Default No More Speculation: Roth to Replace Stern

    http://au.launch.yahoo.com/050710/10/5wh7.html

David Lee Roth To Take Over Howard Sterns Radio Show
    (Soundbuzz, Tuesday July 12)

Former Van Halen star David Lee Roth is reportedly being lined up to replace controversial New York shock jock Howard Stern when he quits his daily talk show. The 'Jump' singer is in negotiations with Infinity Broadcasting bosses about the soon-to-be-vacant radio spot after impressing them with guest appearances on rock radio shows across America. Stern will become the host of a new uncensored Sirius Satellite Radio show next January after falling out with radio bosses over restrictions they placed on his shows and fines issued for his bawdy talk. Lee Roth has wowed radio fans in both Los Angeles and Boston after taking charge of classic rock shows for ArrowFM and KLSX Los Angeles. Infinity insiders insist they'll be looking at several personalities to take over Stern's show in different territories. (wenn)

Holy shit that would be cool!
    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

-Derrick Jensen, "What We Leave Behind"

"You know what's weird to me is Christians who are against the death penalty. After all, if it weren't for the death penalty, we wouldn't celebrate Easter!"

I guess a tour with VH in 2006 will not be happening now?
Maybe Eddie will be HIS Artie Lange or Jeff The Drunk.
Alex will be Baba Booey, and Mike will be Benjie.

Sammy can make guest appearances as Sam the tequila salesman (instead of Sal the stockbroker)
    Val can take Robin's place.

The one thing that makes me not like this idea of Dave replacing Howard is that ALOT of callers are going to call in and bash Eddie, Alex, Sam & Mike and Dave will take up too much airtime bashing the brothers instead of just moving forward with his new gig.

    Good luck Dave.

I Doubt it. E! just canned Howard's show. Which is whacked because Howard's show held the top 4 slots in E!'s ratings. His 11:00pm show was #1, his 11:30pm show was #3, his 2:00am show was #2, and his 2:30am show was #4. Howard attributed the "college crowd" for making his 2:00am #2.

Agreed, being "WOWED" to me is having your girlfriend (ex for many years now) slipping out of her dress and under it she has on a sleek nightie while drinving back to the hotel after a family reunion dinner and giving you a totally unexpected blowj*b while on a winding road in Ct. You know who you are you little vixen.

Dave's dj-ing was not a "WOWING" moment. It was good and entertaining and he does seem to have a niche. But he is NO Howard or Laquidara.

Gee how exciting. Why in god's name is Dave bothering with this I'll never know.

Still sounds like speculation to me...."reportedly."

Seems pretty likely even though nothing has been confirmed by anybody yet.

Infinity test marketed Dave in two of the biggest markets in the country, LA and Boston. Both were highly successful by all accounts. Being in the media biz this is what I have heard.
Morning drive is a tough gig, to succeed you have to be different than everybody else. Where many of today's morning shows have indirectly or directly been inspired by Stern, Dave has his own style and it could very well work quite well.
WZLX in Boston did good in the ratings when Dave was on for a week, they just fired the morning guy last week.

I'd give Dave a better than 50/50 chance of succeding.

Dave's run in LA was highly successful? Based on what? No one's ever seen the ratings to my knowledge? If they've been posted, then I apologize. But I'm sure he got his ass handed to him by Howard Stern and Mark and Brian who have dominated the English radio market here for years. I think people just like to write shit without any basis in fact. That's the problem with the fucking media these days. No one fact checks a damn thing.

And shit all he did was spin fucking records half the time, how was that anything special. I don't know, this whole thing just reeks to me.

Jan, it's not something I see Dave doing well at. Have to come in everyday with new material for 4 hours of show is not exactly easy. It's not like guys like Howard Stern just walked into the business yesterday, it took years for him to connect with an audience and build his show and daily performance. Dave has no experience in this, doing it for one week is far different than doing it day in and day out. And in all honesty, did you find it that interesting to listen to? Apart from the fact that we all love VH and it was Dave? Was he actually anything special?

Dave as a DJ? No thanks.
