Default Did VH1 used to not suck?

I have not started a thread in a while... hope this is in the right place...

Didn't VH1 used to be sorta cool. I probably saw every Behind the Music and Legends 20 times. BTM got worse as it went on, but I think it was cool early on.

Now there is nothing on there but reality crap (but the one I dug (Bands on the Run) got canned years ago - I think it was fixed). What burns me is they have that whole "save the music" thing. Seems to me if they wanted to save the music they could put some back on television. I don't see a "contact us" link at vh1.com, so I'm venting here.

I wish there was a musician's channel (if there is one, I don't know about it). Gear reviews, documentaries, extended interviews with musicians about how they write music.

VH1 Classic is about all I watch. At least when I get home from work Insomniac Theater and MTV Late night is on.

It's the reality show shit that's fucking it up, same as MTV.

i remember getting into VH when the vids were on "pop up video". useless info, in those bubble things. but sadly, cooprate america ruins TV, and its those music channels that suffer, and all the shows that are good, but, according to cooprate america, and all the MONEY that is spent on those channels, they want stuff on that MAKES MONEY. MONEY MONEY MONEY...CANT GET THIS MONEY NO MORE.

I liked "pop-up video". I got kinda hooked on those little factoids, and it was a genius programming move. I watched videos I didnt even like just to see the little fact bubbles.

I've never been a big fan of VH1. They were showing a replay of the Live8 concerts earlier. Anyone know who the band was that did "Rockin in the free world"? I thought they did a pretty good job with it.

Yeah maroon 5 did an alright version of it and i was quite surprised that they know what a solo is. But I think that the G3 guys do it better. I watched the whole live 8 thing, hopping to catch motley crue but apparently, they either didnt do the concert or they didnt tape it. But I did catch Bon Jovi and they were lookin pretty good. Nice to see that ritchie is usin the new floyd rose speeloader guitars

Seein Pink Floyd, The Who and Bon Jovi are my highlights though. It was just awesome to see pink floyd in concert where as I havent before and seein the who was just plain awesome!

That was MTV in 1982. VH1 didn't even exist then.

VH1 was great when it focused on music and music-related programming. Now, it's an all-purpose entertainment network. When they actually do have a new program that focuses on music, it's a surprise and seems "special."

    I used to love VH1...now I couldn't care less.

VH 1's "Rock Show" used to kick major ass. I have a few episodes that I recorded and still watch them from time to time. You got nothing but straight up kick ass rock n roll. Van Halen, Megadeth, Living Colour, Sabbath, etc. I loved that show.

I think they are the Corporate Music Station now...

Notice how there is Behind The Music for groups that don't even deserve it?

They have them "coincidently" right before the subject band or singer has a new album coming out.

They are going the way of MTV...

I just wish someone would turn down the suck knob on all TV nowadays.

    VH1 Classic's pretty good.

T'would be nice if the music channels would actually play music, good music not the lame ass stuff they're passin off as music!!!

There really are no music channels anymore. They got swallowed up by the reality show crap.
