    Default Roth to replace Stern??

I just saw this story on "Your World with Neal Cavuto." He has a guest from steppinoutmagazine.com named Chaunce Hayden who is reporting that David Lee Roth has signed on to replace Howard Stern in some markets. Maybe he said on Sirius, I didn't quite catch it all. Anyway, it reairs at 10:00 pm PDT and the segment is around 25 past the hour.

Sigh. Undoubtedly this will be heralded by some as a grand step in the right direction. I'm sure Dave will lay on the schtick well and will easily pull off a DJ gig, but God forbid we get back on track with a smokin' guitarist, put out a real album, and tour.

Because to be honest, the last thing I wanna hear is Dave reviewing a new VH effort/tour/gig from a DJ position. Because that'd be a universal paradox signaling the end of existence. And who wants that.

Of course, that's dependent on one Edward Van Halen actually endeavoring to put out new product. So maybe Ragnarok's not in the offing anytime soon.

This would actually give me sonthing to listen after Stern leaves terrestrial radio. I hope Dave does end up on mornings here in New York . Sound like a lot of fun.

I'm probably in the minority, but I think this would be a cool thing for Dave. I'd rather have him doing something with Van Halen, or put together something along the lines of Eat 'Em & Smile, or DLR Band. But if that's not in the cards, I'd give this a listen. It'd probably be a lot of fun, and that's what Dave's about.

Having heard DLR do his guest shots on local radio out here in SoCal, I have to say two things....

    1) Yes, it is fun.
    2) It....kinda gets old. Sorry, but Dave's a rock star, not a radio personality.

I just don't see it lasting.

I dunno, I've heard Dave guest DJ in New York and I think when he is a guest DJ, he knows its a short time so he throws all his shtick at you at once. If this were a real job, he would be different and pace himself. Even if he is taking Stern's time slot, he won't be doing Stern's show. It'll be music with the occassional goofy morning-show antics that are typical of morning radio.

Why the hell does Dave want a "day" job? I thought one becomes a rock star to avoid responsibilty and the crap that is associated with a real job. Dave, don't do it! It's not too late!

I haven't heard Dave's DJ schtick, so I'm not speaking from a position of authority in any respect. I think he'd probably be pretty good, but I imagine it would get old after a while. I got bored of Stern pretty quickly and I think Dave would probably be better than him.

DLR as a DJ would mean he gets a steady paycheck, but it's a sad day for fans of his music. He's been on a downward slide as a musical artist and this would be the nail in the coffin. How's he going to find time to record and tour if he's sitting in a DJ seat every morning?

I'd be it's because it's something he hasn't done before. Dave's one of those guys who will try anything.

I think Dave would be very entertaining to the average Joe. Us "superfans" probably think its a step down.
