Dude, they ARE badass. I just heard the new tune over the weekend. I'm going to go pick up the new record at lunch.

Which of their older records should I pick up? I'm kinda new to them...

The new album just kicks ass. I've heard OF these guys for years but never actually heard them until last weekend. Can't believe I've never caught on to them before. The lead off track, "The Incomparable Mr. Flannery" is freakin' hilarious:

    Fisrt we get some surgery,
Lose the kids then our identities.
But one thing I know for a fact,
Moustache stays right where it's at.

    REO Speedwagon, Kansas to Boston.
My ankle bracelet, already gone and lost it.
Them yellow jackets keep the tired man from slacking.
    Stole my Camaro, primer gray.
Took my suitcase, all my pay.
Ain't got no taillights, grill full of fur.
How could you do this to a man so close to being cured?

We should get together and talk it over
    At the Detroiter.
    Delaware Destroyers, rockin' with Dokken.
You front the money and I'll do all the talking.
Them yellow jackets keep the tired man from slacking.

Come a little closer honey, I won't bite ya.
One more lager and I might learn to like ya.

...and did I mention it RAWKS?

I'm kinda like sixstring in that I've heard OF Clutch, but I've never actually heard any of their stuff. I've heard good things ABOUT them, but I have yet to take the plunge on one of their cds. I'll have to look into 1 or 2 of your recommendations.

sixstring, if you check any of their stuff out, let me know what you recommend. New disc or one of the old ones?

Definitely the new one. I also grabbed the LIVE At The Googleplex disc (from 2003) and gave it a spin. It's good but the new one is the shit.

Okay, but I gotta say, no album title has made me want to run out and buy it like PURE ROCK FURY. That is marketing genius. Everything about that title makes me think that I'd love it.

I've seen them live a few times and listened to them a bunch back in the mid '90s but got tired of them, mainly because of Fallon's voice. But the music is solid...

With the above recommendations in mind, I trekked off to a nearby used CD store to see if I'd get lucky. There sat Elephant Riders, which I snatched up. From there I went to a Half-Price Books to see what they had. Found the self-titled disc. A couple of days later I went by another Half Price Books and found Pure Rock Fury. The next week my wife gave me Robot Hive: Exodus for my birthday.

The music is solid on all four. My favorite of the four is the self-titled disc. I have to give them a break every now and again because Fallon's voice does wear on me a bit. He sings with more of a bluesy voice on Robot Hive than he does on the other 3 I have.

Favorite song is probably Texan Book of the Dead.

Oooh eee oooh ahh ahh ting tang wallah wallah bing bang
Oooh eee oooh ahh ahh ting tang wallah wallah bing bang, oh yeah
    Oooh eee oooh ahh ahh b - i - n - g - o
Oooh eee oooh ahh ahh eee-i-eee-i-oh

I think that was lifted from the Banana Splits Show. Used to love that show.

Sounds a little like "Witch Doctor" from David Seville (pre-Chipmunks)

Whoops! You're right. I still loved the Banana Split show, though. And the Witch Doctor chorus sounds cool in Texan Book of the Dead.

Hey glad you liked it Klee...those guys are freaking tight...in fact there "Tight Like That" one of my favorites...Tim Sult is a very underrated guitar player...you really should try to see these guys live...they tour like 365...they are even better live then on CD

they are the ultimate Jam band...

"HOTTER THAN ABBA IN NEVADA SUN IN A REAL SMALL CAR WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED UP
NO SUPER TROOPER BECAUSE YOU POOPED YOUR PANTS AND YOU'RE SCREAMING OH PLEASE JUST GIVE ME ONE MORE CHANCE
NOT ONE TO SHRINK FROM HELPING HUMANKIND BROTHER ONE OTHER THING THAT YOU MIGHT KEEP IN MIND
COORDINATION OF THE EYE AND HAND IS NOT MY STRONG POINT BUT I MAKE DUE WITH WHAT I HAVE."

God they sing about John Wilkes Booth...How if there were Elephants used how different the Civil War would have been...meeting a Yeti for the first time...Thanksgiving dinner...smokin' pot on a spaceship...dungeons and dragons..

they are freaking nerds but i love em!!!

Anybody out there dig this new tune from Clutch? What do you all think of the band? Any Clutch fans out there? I'm really starting to dig this band a lot!!!
