    Um...because it did.

Plus, much like New Wave did in the 80s and Grunge did in the 90s, that sort of mass movement in musical taste steered too many kids away from a lot of kickin' 70s hard rock.

IMO, of course. (where's my goddamned Ben-Gay? )

Black Sabbath...or Andy Gibb? Hmm, choices, choices...

Disco didn't suck. There was good disco and there was bad disco. It's certainly better than the techno dance crap they listen to today. A lot of disco songs had live musicians playing on them and had a natural groove.

Besides, even the guys in VH admit that when they played clubs, they played stuff like "Get Down Tonight" and other disco tracks. They may not have liked it, but they did do it.

There's only two types of music...good and bad.

Exactly. A lot of the early stuff that was called disco was fine - it was original. It was only when everything became derivitive that it sounded it's own death knell. Kinda like "hair metal".

Because Homer Simpson said so with the bumper sticker on his car.
Bobby Cohn: Who's going to be at Waynestock?
Wayne Campbell: Um, uh...Aerosmith & Pearl Jam!
Garth Algar: Ha ha ha ha ho!
    Bobby: Who else?
    Garth: Uh, me...and...and Wayne...
    Wayne: ...and uh...VAN HALEN!!!
Garth: Wow. Van Halen. Who else?
    Bobby: Yeah, who else?
Wayne: Uh, an old man fashioning a kayak out of a log?

I agree...except the two types of music...not necessarily good or bad, it's either you like it or you don't.

Good or bad of course being in the ear of the beholder. Taste is subjective. I get the impression from being here that everyone here likes Van Halen...of course, which version of VH brings us back to...well, you know.

At the time, it was an affront to gtr-driven, aggressive rock. In retrospect,
it's hard to see what all the fuss was about. I mean, Abba, Chic? Come on!

Not all disco sucked! Not that I would sit and listen to it on the radio. It is still fun to dance to!

Hey, don't get me wrong. There's no person on earth who grew up in the seventies and doesn't get their groove on when Stayin Alive rears its head. Myself included. In fact, me and a few buds in grade school lip synched that sucker in a contest in 4th or 5th grade. Won, too. Wide collars, Bee Gees moves, the whole shebang.

That said, I have one word for this era, fairly unrelated, but for some reason, Bee Gees makes me think of Kristoffersen, and ol Kris, of course, makes me think of THE DUCK....

    Convoy.

    whoo hooo!
