    Nice read. Thanks for sharing!

Now if we would only knew why Ed actually left Peavey that would be nice, too.
Was he unsatisfied with the products they were producing, od was he simply trying to make more money with the Charvel art series and franky clones?

    Cool, thanks for posting that.
Gee I wonder what he was implying with the "we want to take the high road" line?

    Thanks for posting!

Talk about sugar-coated responses, though...good to see Peavey is being tactful about it. Good PR for them.
How open-minded do I have to be before my brains start spilling out?

Geoff posted that interview to his site when there were still a lot of questions about the split. To date there is still no one thing anyone at Peavey has said was the reason for the split, though a difference in money kept coming up from many associated. A few things I recall hearing/reading:

*Hartley Peavey, in refernce to the split with EVH, once said: "I've never known someone to ask for so much and give back so little."

*EVH wanted more money to keep endorsing Peavey.

*The Art Series line was conceived for Ed by someone at Peavey, but he instead took the idea to Charvel.

*The Custom Shop sent Ed more than 200 guitars over the years. He apparently never once sent a 'thank you' back to them.

*Ed had complete say over what production versions of the Wolfgang could be produced. The Custom Shop was the only way a customer could get an ebony or rosewood fretboard or other special changes. To get around this, Peavey produced a lot of Custom Shop guitars for the 'Vault.' Some were unique, but some were simply production models with rosewood fretboards that dealers could order from the Vault. Often sellers are now trying to call these Wolfgangs 'Custom Shop,' which seriously stretches the truth. (There's a guy, who is indeed a major jackass, trying to do this on eBay right now: http://cgi.ebay.com/Peavey-EVH-Wolfg...em170059370131. I tried to correct him on one of his descriptions once and he sent me back a threatening, insulting response--which was poorly puncutated, of course.)

Good ole jayboy. That guy is a tool. He was selling a Wolfgang Exp and bragging about the great 5A maple cap it had. So I told him it was a veneer and this was his response accusing me of racism:

Hey Moron,I dont care how thick it is,you big dumb ass!Its still real wood. The .625 is still considered veneer, just like the EXP Model is.Look,I didnt ever contact you,and I never will. You are the one who feels the need to email me.Im going to tell you one time, not to send another email to me.I also do not appreciate the first email you sent to me using racist words.I am not a racist,as you seem to be.Some of my very best friends are black. You need to remember that skin color doesnt make a person.I still have the first email you sent to me,and if you ever email me again,Ill send a copy of it to Ebay

I got something similar back from him! What a complete tool! (Good word.) He makes a lot of false claims in his auctions, like when he was selling a Wolfie case for $295 and went on and on about how it was the best case made, etc. and how they're now out of production. (They're not that great and are of course still in production and used with the HP Special.)

In retrospect, it would've been cool to get a Custom Shop guitar, but I would've wanted a cutout for a Trans-Trem, and Strat-like spots for a Middle and Neck single coil pickups. That would've been a pretty pricey guitar I'm guessing.

I guess if I need something like that badly enough, I'll drive 35 minutes up the road and see my buddy at Warmoth...

He was implying that EVH is a very hard guy to work with. He probably pissed off a few people at Peavey. What more is there to know?
