    Default Who would you save?

My friends and I had a talk the other day. Lets say you had access to a time machine. You could go back in time just once and you had a choice of saving a guitarist from a premature death. However you had to pick one of the following guys.

    Jimi Hendrix
    Randy Rhoads
    SRV

    Who would it be?

Mine would be Randy just because the lack of material that we currently have. Jimi and SRV were able to show more of what they were capable of.

Well Glen, that's not fair man. It's like trying to decide which of your loved ones you would save, if you only had 1 choice.

But, since you brought back Randy, I'll choose Jimi...

That's 2, now someone save SRV!

Jimi was approaching the weird part of his career and had already given us his best, so I'm not picking him.

Randy would most likely have become another 80's footnote. Two great albums and the live recording would still be what he's remembered for if he lived.

But SRV was just starting over. He had released his first album, In Step, after becoming clean & sober and was full of fire. Judging from the album he did with his brother, Family Style, and the gems released on "The Sky Is Crying," Stevie had a whole lot more ahead of him.

I'll admit though, Randy is a close second. Jimi, like Morrison and Joplin, died at the right time.

    Rhodes.

I don't think Hendrix could have been saved. I think it was only a matter of time before he OD'd, IMO.

    Hmmm...thats a good question.

I really want to say SRV but he put out quite a few albums so thats why im saying randy. 2 albums isnt much to elaborate on how a guitarist expands so if he didnt die, im sure he could have put out quite a few more albums with ozzy until Zakk got there. But I know that randy was getting sick of the gig with ozzy and he wanted to go to school after he was done. So who knows what would have happened...

Randy. I saw in a documentary about him that he was seriously considering returning to his classical guitar roots. I think that would have been cool addition to his catalog.
