    Default Painting over quilted maple

Hey guys, have any of you even painted over a quilted maple top? Im curious to know because I have this idea for a guitar that I have been wanting to build with a basswood body with a quilted maple top. Since it would cost me lots of $$$ to get the quilt dyed, I'm wondering if I should just put the quilt down on the basswood and then do my own paint job.

Yeah, there are dyes that StewMac sells that will do the job. Don't "paint" over the quilt, as paint is opaque and you won't see the quilt at all.
