Right on, I'm with ya. Why can't VH be more like Iron Maiden...they put out a live album every year it seems, with an accompanying DVD!
    I think it's all done.
For cryin' out loud, Bon Jovi put out a 4-CD set of unreleased music from their vaults, wouldn't it be great if VH did that??!!

I also agree that the new Priest album rocks, but I don't think they suck live. In fact I'm going to see them this Saturday.

Grammatical errors aside, and all, I actually kind of agree with him on most everything. Ed's obviously not too concerned with getting his 10 albums worth of material out there on the market. Hell, if they still had Mikey(which I'm not sure if they do or not at this point), he could sing lead if they really wanted him to. I mean hell, Mike even said that he was gonna sing lead on the 2nd Cherone album for a song because he figured if Ed could do it, so could he. Seriously, they need to get with the fucking program. Get Sam, Dave, both or none, doesn't really matter just give us some fucking music.

BTW - Yeah don't hold back there. As frustrated a fan as ever I've seen before!!! Don't worry, I'm right there with you as a fellow frustrator (is that a word??). It sure sucks to be a fan right about now. And yes, I'm still a fan. Call me a sucker if you will.

I grew up musically with Van Halen. I don't know if I'm still a fan but I do know I've lost my 'love' for Van Halen. I basically hang out to hear about Ed's health/plans (HA!) and what not. And to rattle the cages of Samwee Huggars.
Van Halen is basically dead. Their only hope is to call 911.
Oh yeah...10 CDs worth of music? I tend to think it is more like hours and hours and hours and hours hours and hours and hours and hours hours and hours and hours and hours hours and hours and hours and hours hours and hours and hours and hours of nothing but noodling. If it was music, we'd at least know about it, much less have already heard it.
I think Dave and Al's falling out is femalien-related. As for Ed, I think guitar God status moved him to believe he didn't need Dave's input in the studio. Dave knew Ed before fame and treated him the same after the fame hit. Sam came into the band after the God-complex was in place and probably thought it wasn't his place to interject musical opinion (not to say he was totally a yes-man). Hence the huge change in VH music in 1986. I know that sounds like an Ed-slam but it really isn't. Writing a song and being a great musician are NOT the same thing. I believe early Van Halen was all about collaboration. We've all heard the changes in the music as that collaboration evaporated. It culminated with the debacle of VHIII.
Oh well, that's just my Op/Spec. Ed is a genius guitarist and riffmaster. Songwriting has nothing to do with those things. He has proven he is marginally capable of Gold when working, for all intents and purposes, alone. However, to reach Diamond status again would require a total psyche overhaul. And a phone call...

What to think after that "shock and awe"-inspiring post???

All I can say is Wow.

Unfortunately, you've pretty much summed up the demise of VH, at least as we know it. Insightful post; a bit harsh but true nonetheless. The truth sure hurts, don't it.

I agree about the hours and hours (plus) of "music" which is proabably nothin but pure Edward fuckin around with his guitar. As I've said time and again, send 'em off with the closure that they deserve and call it a day.

There really is no where else to go from here unless something or someone changes PDQ.

Hmmm...July 1st?? Judas Priest? My sleuthing skills tell me you will be in Reno for the show. I only wonder because I'm in Reno and was thinking about going to the show.
