    Default New Cherone CD

I hadn't seen this discussed. Did I miss it?

If not, what are the thoughts on Gary's new material? http://www.myspace.com/garycherone

Very different stuff from VH, TOJ, etc. His versatility is the biggest thing I miss. While I want to hold onto VH returning to the top of the melodic rock pile, I'd almost rather see Ed sign up with Gary for a project like this. It'd be sweet to see Ed blow the doors off this type deal, as opposed repeating things with Sammy. No knock on Sammy, but the biggest downer of Gary's departure is that we'll not ever see Ed reach like that again.

Some cool tunes, remind me of some of the "easy listening" stuff of the 70's. I am sure it will get chewed up and spit out around here, but I will be making the purchase of this CD. It would be cool to here Ed make a complete departure, musically speaking..."Once" was close, VH3 just needed more time together before the CD...anyway, reinvention is usually always good.

I don't see Once as a reinvention, it was a completely new direction they were heading. Something I'd like their 2nd album with Gary to sound like.

I see your point and agree. I guess it was more of a different direction, than reinvention...but that is a fine line sometimes. Once was still "rock", so I guess I would like to hear the guys do something funky or off the wall (not in a "How Many Say I" variety though) Let me take that back...Ed put it on the line and ventured out...thanks to Gary, and that point was made earlier.

...or at least Ed could start playing that tuba

Wow, Gary is an amazing vocalist. He's so versatile. Ed was a fool to part ways with Gary, a damn fool.

So true...It's funny how people forget that Gary left. I think Ed should put "VH" to rest and collaborate with Gary, bring Al in for the percussion, and call it another name. Shit, sell it on the web. I'd buy it in a heart beat. After all, that shit from BOB was a sign to this fan that the magic with Sammy has just simply passed....time to move on and try something else!
