What ONE Van Halen song captures the true ESSENCE of the band?

    Take Your Whiskey Home.

This song captures the band's blues roots. Ed at his percussive and groove best. Dave scats and screams. Al is just f-in rippin'. And Mike's background vocals and driving bass line hold it all down.

Great tune that really catpures what VH is all about. :thumb"

    Default I'm The One

It has it all. Classic DLR. Ed ripping it up. MA background vocals and of course Al & Mikey's classic rhythm sound.

    What one song....hmmmm.....

    1. Unforgettable riff to begin and played throughout
    2. Pounding beat laid down by Alex and Mike in one of their best grooves
    3. Memorable lyrics, highlghted by an all time classic Dave "breakdown" in the middle
    4. Killer background vocals
    5. Lots of attitude
    6. Classic solo by Ed
    7. Unbelievable energy
    8. Four guys at the top of their games, producing "a sum greater than the parts"

    Hmmm...what song...

    Unchained perhaps?

"Don't Tell Me" is the epitomy of Van Halen. Live, of course.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

    Tough to argue with this...

My buddy and I just the other day (we have about one significant debate per week regardin Van Halen, just because we've done it since we were juniors in high school) were talking about the one defining track for each era....the one song you'd play for somebody who's never heard VH.

Objectively, it's pretty much Unchained and Humans Being.

    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

"You know what's weird to me is Christians who are against the death penalty. After all, if it weren't for the death penalty, we wouldn't celebrate Easter!"

    ___Everbody Wants Some!!_______

That gets me everytime, and the volume must be cranked.
Back in the days, that would be my favorite air guitar/band song. I quickly started learning the real thing after this shell shocker.
It can never be loud enough!!
