The tuning for the song is the same as most if not all Crue tunes.......which is basicly an entire step or tone down.

Meaning instead of normal string pitch being from thickest to thinest:
    E A D G B E

    it's the following:

    D G C F A D.

One suggestion is if your strings are a bit old, change them before tuning down. What I find happens is if you tune down with older and fairly stretched strings the tuning isn't good especially the higher up the fretboard you play.

So if you wanna play with correct tuning sound, when tuning your guitar half or in the crue's case an entire step down....put new strings on.

I don't know if you are one of those people who pre-stretch before putting them on your guitar, but I dont do this. When re-stringing I don't pre-stretch and I only tune to the desired pitch....play a bit and re-tune to the correct pitch again. Do this for a day or two and the stings still have their new sound and won't slip.

Sorry if I went into too much detail but this is the technique I use all the time if I want perferct pitch out of my strings at any tuning.

...or try heavier strings. When tuning down (or any other tension-altering mod) remember to tweak the neck and adjust your intonation. When in doubt, adjust the intonation. Just because it is 'in tune' doesn't mean it 'plays in tune'.

    Default Correct Motley Crue Tuning

Most of Motleys stuff is standard tuning but drop the A to G. Try 'Live Wire and Wild Side' Very very cool. Like Drop D but on the A string.
    I Hope I helped

motley songs drop the A to a G?! I've never noticed that on any of their tunes. Wierd. I've even had some tab books and such over the years and never saw mention of that. I always understood the tunes to be played a whole step down.
    Stay out of it, dude.

Thats right. Motley has always been primarily D G C F A D, which is just one whole step down. A handful of stuff in drop C, which is same, just dropping the D down to C (most of the MC94 album is in drop C as well as a few other tunes). Normally I'm not a big fan of detuning, but it does fit with Motley.

Mick has always gotten some of the greatest tone in the world and the detuning is a big part of it.

I wonder what came first: the desire to get that nasty, thick, grungey tone or a need to accomodate Vince's...well...limited vocal ability.
    Stay out of it, dude.
