Default Ratt and Roll: The Ratt Thread

Just listened to this retrospective of RATT during their heyday. These guys were great and really underrated IMO.

Oh yeah I have that CD. I really enjoy it. Never had the urge to get all their albums, but I do have this one, Out of the Cellar (of course), Collage, and Ratt.

It really is the perfect compliment to the band from 1981-1991. This is a compilation that was put together correctly. They didn't miss any of the hits.

    Word up.

I don't think that they are under rated though. When they were hot, everyone knew them and they were well liked by a good cross-section of the hard rock crowd. They just ran out of steam at the wrong time and fell apart. They needed one more album to put them over the top but they were so coked up they couldn't think straight.

Today they are often religated to the "Hair Band" pile, but the title "Hair Band" is used by people who weren't around then and don't know any better.

Get 'Invasion of Your Privacy'. Their best IMO. They were great in concert too! They still tour in various incarnation: w/o Pearcy. DeMartini and Blotzer may be the only original members left. Of course, Robbin Crosby passed away a couple of years ago.

    Get the Ratt Ep.
It is awesome and really raw. Its probably their best but it is impossible to find since it has been out of print for some time.

I have seen these guys every time they play NJ and Warren D kicks ass.

They will be touring this summer with Firehouse Quiet Riot and Cinderalla, check them out you wont be disappointed.

Warren is a great guitarist but Stephen Pearcy was just a terrible singer. I have the best of cd on my computer and its just so obvious that he just cannot sing. There are so many damn vocal overdubs and punch ins.

They have a few good songs but the vocals really held them back.

I always thought "81-91" had way too much Detonator. It's like they were still trying to push that album, which was pretty much the end of RATT.

Great group, great CD, great everything. Huge fan of Ratt here. My sister used to say she never owned a VH or Ratt album, but could sing all their songs b/c she heard it so often from my room. Cellar/Invasion were great albums as was 81-91. I thought it was a good CD, excpet for the latter tracks, excluding Nobody Rides for Free. I feel they were lumped into the hair band category unfairly. They kicked ass and I still listen to their music regularly.

I love those Ratt bastards. Ratt's one of my top 5 bands, and one of the most underrated based on how well they play their instruments. DeMartini is a far better guitarist than most of his peers. I also love Pearcy's voice, very unique. My fav. Ratt album is Dancing Undercover.

RATT rules!!!!! The RATT EP is the best, I was lucky enough to have found it last year. It beats all their other records.

Yeah, I always hated the term "hair band" it seems to cheapen a lot of bands in the 80's. Like all they were was "Big Hair". A lot of the so called "hair bands" like Ratt, Dokken had awesome guitar work IMO! ..Lynch..De Martini...etc
