    Default Radio Station Trivia Question

I was on my favorite radio station (all 80's music) web site answering their daily trivia questions. The 80's Music question for today is: Who was the bassist for Van Halen? I thought they wanted the name of the guy before Micheal Anthony, but I decided to put in Mike's name instead and got it right. The thing that bugs me is the way the question was worded (using was instead of is) as if Mikey's no longer in the band or the band no longer exists.

Since it's an only '80's station, maybe it was worded that way because '80's music is "in the past tense." Therefore, "who WAS the bassist for Van Halen in the '80's". Does that make sense? I hear where you're coming from, though. It's frustrating for VH fans to see wordage like that b/c we know (or at least wanna believe) they're still alive and kickin' (hey...that was an '80's song too, wasn't it?).
