Default Live Aid... Perfect Time for VH?

I think that with this new Live Aid comping about and all this, this would be the perfect venue for VH to announce a new album with Sammy and they could do something for charity.

I think this is a good opportunity. But I don't know.

    Default Live Aid

Yeah, I'd love to see that happen! Although, my negative side is kicking in here. Is Ed ready for a show that not just 20,000 will see, but maybe 20,000,000? Does Sammy even want to? Does this open up the door for another attempt at a quick (and futile) reunion with Roth? Would VH share the stage with other acts and will egos surface if the right order isn't done? We've seen it all before. What other bands are booked for this? If it's a bunch of the suck-ass new music I hear any more, I wouldn't want to be a part of it if I was Van Halen, though. Sorry, Coldplay (for example) shouldn't be sharing a stage with Van Halen. A lot of questions and it sounds like something would have to be put together in a hurry.

As us VH fans know, not much does happen in a hurry any more.

Sorry I'm so negative. Honestly, my heart is still broken about what has gone on with the greatest American Rock And Roll band over the last 9 years.

THAT'S WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF

It's always nice to dream tho.

It would be ideal for this to happen; however, given this band's history and lack of stability, I'd have my doubts as well.

    But who knows????

    Great opportunity tho.

Oh I don't know about Coldplay not sharing a stage with VH. Coldplay is an amazing band - certainly one of the best (if not the best) newer band out there. They may not be the same style, but Coldplay would more than hold their own.

This Live 8 thing doesn't sound as cool as the first one where anybody who wanted to play could play.

Some acts are being turned away because their music is considered too light in nature for such a serious subject like world hunger. What a bunch of asses. It's rock and pop music, you get drunk and fuck to it. The very fact that Madonna is one of the acts should throw up all kinds of red flags.

    I'll skip it.

haha!!...they'd be better suited to 'Snorefest 2005'.

I actually consider coldplay a talented group of musicians...just a little snoozy for mine.

Yeah, I think they'd view VH as too much of a 'fun' or 'party' band to consider them.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

isn't there a bit of history here with respect to these 'all-star' type shows and VH? Weren't they pissed off that they were left out of the 'tears are not enough' thing? And what about Woodstock '94? Seems like they aren't even on the radar when organizers put these things together...

    What's coldplay????

    I kid.

I have to agree here. The bands are not really bands (some of them) and Madonna???? The biggest pr floozie around, IMO.

There's not much to this one, I don't think. Nothing like Live Aid the first time around.

    Whattabout Net Aid?????
    SNL anybody???

From what I remember Van Halen turned down the opportunity to play Woodstock 94. A charity gig would be a great place for a band of Van Halen's stature to get things going again but I don't think this will ever happen.
