Default looking for guitar for my older bro

Hey fellas my older bro got me started on playing guitar 11 years ago before giving it up a bit himself. He is now getting back into it. He is also making a good deal of money, so money is not very much a factor. He called me last night looking for advice on which guitar to get. He wants something "kinda classy", doesnt want a strat, likes to rock out. Doesnt really need a tremolo necessarily. He also has semi fat and not very long fingers. We searched around on the net for a while and he seemed to have found an interest in LP's. What do you guys think? ANd if you think the les paul is the right one for him, which one should he get? Should he get a customized one? And what things should he customize, i.e. i have heard a lot of people say that Les P's are real nice guitars but some parts of them are cheap. I want to make sure he gets his money worth. Would it also be a good idea to switch the pups or are the les paul stock pups any good? Please help me fellas!@

Start with the Les Paul standard and move your way up to the custome ones. There is also PRS guitars tha kick major ass for that classic sound! We are talking money now!

yeah you can change the pickups but he wont need to right away, that can come much later.

look for these guiatrs that are les paul type:

    Baker guitars ,kick ass guitars
    PRS
    GMP
    Dean
    guild

I love my Enrie Ball Music Man Guitars, but l'd recommend putting a day aside, and just travel around to guitar stores and try everything.

thanks guys! Yeah see the thing is, he isnt necessarily a beginner. Hes been playing since he was 12, hes about 29 now. He has had acoustics recently but now that he has settled down with his life somewhat he wants to get back into electric, and he knows ive been a guitar geek the last year or so hanging on these boards. I personally have an Axis, which i love, but it might be too high maitenence for him. He needs something that he can just have and mess around with. Also, I have a feeling he wont really feel the need for upgrading pickups and all that, which is why I want to have it all done first so that he wont have to mess with it much more after he gets it. Plus since he has money these days I want to be selfish and make sure he gets a top of the line instrument with pickups and hardware etc so i can mess around with it. I have jsut heard things like the tuners on les pauls are crappy, some of the hardware. So it would be good to know which things we should get replaced and put in before taking it home from the shop.
