    Default Garth Brooks

    considering his influences, is probably the most recognizable country star with rock fans. So with that in mind...Garth Brooks is engaged to be married to Trisha Yearwood.

    The rumors I have gotten from some people in the know down in Music City say that his appearance at the Academy of Country Music awards, accepting an award on behalf of Chris LeDoux is just the beginning to what's to be Garth's return to the music world.

    Long story short, he's supposedly putting out an album late this year, milking it until summer, then doing a deal like Sammy did. Do about 30 arenas, two shows each only during the summer, so he can still be home for all of his kids events during the school year. Trisha will do a little touring before and after so they can spend as much time together as possible.

    Again, all of that is only a rumor. But it comes from people that are really connected in Nashville that I talked to on a daily basis while still in radio. Now I talk to about once a month, just to kinda keep up in case the bug bites and I get this crazy idea that I can be a relevant dj again.

    You know I am so happy for him! Garth is one of the only country artists that I can stand. I know he went through a really tough time with his first wife.

    Part of the buzz I got from my contacts in Nashville said that Garth is going to be a part of the record label that Toby Keith is putting together. It all be based in Oklahoma where they're both from. Garth and Toby were two of the most vocal country stars that bitched about not having any creative control over their marketing, musician usage and song selection.

    Can you imagine the shockwaves those two could create by doing that? It'll allow the artists to have creative control over the songs they record, and place on releases. If they want to use their road band, there's no musician's union interference. They want it to be nothing but songs they wrote...there's no songwriters union interference.

    Granted, they won't have the huge ditribution companies behind them, but if your name is Garth Brooks or Toby Keith...everything you touch turns platinum anyway. Just those two names alone will sell more albums than a new guy with millions of dollars and a major label behind them.

    Wow I'm glad she's okay. That's scary!!

    btw - I think Garth's tunes are pretty kewl. I do listen to them now and then. I'm partic fond of Wild Horses and that duet he did with the late great Chris LeDoux. I just heard Garth's new song and it sounded pretty good, darned if I can remember the name of it tho.

    I don't think you guys realize how big Garth Brooks concerts have been over the past 3 years since he came back from retirement to do 20,000 seat Arenas. In 2012-13 he played shows in Vegas on several residencies at the Wynn casino. People had been waiting since 1998 for a Arena Tour.

    He will sell out 4 or 5 arena shows in a market in a matter of minutes. 100,000 tickets in a matter of minutes. In almost every market in the US, Canada and parts or Europe. The demand is really insane. it is not a traditional tour with 1 stop in each city. He goes to a city and sets up shop for an entire weekend or even week at a 20,000 seat arena.

    He will play 2 separate concerts on Friday and Saturday in the same Arena. Think about that again, NO ONE does that. Read this closely: They will play for 20,000 people on Friday at 7pm, then clear the Arena, then play for a different 20,000 people at 10pm. They will then play for 20,000 on Saturday at 7pm, clear the Arena, then play for a different 20,000 at 10pm. Then they will play the same arena for 20,000 on Sunday at 7pm.

    Garth Brooks is in a completely different stratosphere then every other music touring act.

    ++++

    When I took my wife to see Garth Brooks back in 2015, he played 6 shows in a secondary market like Sacramento over a few days. 20,000 at each show. March 27 2015, 7pm show March 28 2015, 10pm show March 28 2015, March 29 2015, March 31 2015, April 1 2015.

    Just a few weeks ago he played 2 shows at Yankee Stadium. In late June he played 6 nights at the new Tmoblie Arena in Vegas. He just did 4 night in San Antonio in late July.

    No one sells like he does. It would literally take the Beatles coming out of the grave to out sell him in concert. I don't even think a reunited Led Zep could sell out an Arena 5 or 6 nights in a row in almost every market.

    Garth Brooks, Garth Smooks. That ain't country. I'd rather listen to an endless loop of "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing", whilst burning in hell fire for eternity.
