    David Lee Roth (06/04/2005)
    Music starts at 7:00 P.M.

Looming larger than life through the late 70’s and 80’s, Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth created the prototype for what a rock band’s frontman should be. From the top of his surfer-blonde streaked mane of hair to the bottoms of his spandex pants, Roth was a “party on, dude” kind of guy way before the advent of Bill, Ted or their excellent adventure. He brings his gritty vocals and a suitcase of rock classics to Wild Adventures on Saturday, June 4th.

David Lee Roth began his singing career as most do-with local bands, including one called the Red Ball Jets. They would often perform along another band called Mammoth, which included the Van Halen brothers, Eddie and Alex. They would often ask to borrow Roth’s PA system and a friendship was struck. When the two bands split up, Roth joined the Van Halen brothers along with drummer Michael Anthony. They signed to Warner Bros. in 1977 and their stellar career rocketed into orbit, releasing six mega-selling albums by 1984. But in 1985, Roth produced a solo EP, spawning rumors of break-up and several months later, rumor became reality as he left amongst stories of backstage fights, bickering and a movie deal for David. But when the movie deal fell through, Roth formed a new band and embarked on a solo career marked by a hugely successful album and a sold out tour, as well as wacky and highly inventive music videos. Roth continues to tour and rock the crowds to this day. Expect highlights from David Lee Roth’s entire career, including hits from the Van Halen days as well as David Lee Roth’s solo career. The concert starts at 7 pm and is included in the price of park admission, so bring your lawn chairs to set up and watch the show. Covered reserved seating directly in front of the stage is also available at an additional charge.

Reserved seats are $15.00 each, plus tax and are on sale now - Call (229) 219-7080, option 2.

Okay, Dave. Theme park free stages. Between the hypnosis acts and the magicians.

And yet you won't play in L.A., where a small yet lingering fan base still holds out for your mighty return.

Roth joined the Van Halen brothers along with drummer Michael Anthony.

Wow - I knew that Mike could play horns, but drums too? The man's talent just doesn't stop! LOL

It may be a theme park between a puppet show and what not, but @ least Dave can still play. @ least he has the desire to play. If recent rumors are true, he would rather do this than get back in the mess that was once Van Halen. Says a whole lot about the state of one Edward Van Halen. Good for Dave.

You're kidding, right? You think Dave would rather be playing a zoo or whatever instead of joining VH?

Actually, they do this at Great America near San Jose. If this place is anything like, this isn't lame. At GA there's a huge ampitheater...it's legit, so good for Roth...

I assume you're joking, but when I saw DLR in London last year, his band did actually do an instrumental segment including Stanley Clarke's (jazz-fusion bass guy) 'School Days'...I actually like all that stuff, but it doesn't really fly at a rock show.

Dave, may I start by saying how thrilled we are to have you here! We are such fans of your music and all of your records. I'm not speaking of yours personally, but the whole genre of the rock and roll.

Apparently he was approached about a tour and it didn't work out. Obviously, if Van Halen approached him and it didn't happen it was his choice. So, no, I''m not kidding.
I'm sure Dave realizes that a Van Halen tour has one chance only and they could not go public and fail again. If they went out w/ Ed in his current state, it would not last. Dave is better off playing parks, backyard bbq, or whatever @ this point.

Dude, if you've missed the Spinal Tap refference then you need to log off right now and BUY this movie, then watch it.
