    Default Seagul Guitars???

Anyone hear of Seagul guitars? Someone was telling me the other day that their acoustics give the most bang for your buck. Any thoughts?

From my experience playing them, Seagulls are solid acoustic guitars. Not especially noteworthy tonewise, but a very durable, decently made instrument that offers solid value for what you pay.

If it was me and I was looking to buy another acoustic, I would actually pick up something called the Acousticaster made by the same company (Godin guitars). It's a hollowbody electric/acoustic hybrid that has enough resonance that it's very audible without having to plug in, but it gives you the versatility of being able to play electric style licks with an acoustic tone too.

For me, your standard acoustic is great for playing the Eagles around the campfire, but often you end up wanting to tackle something like Finish What You Started or other electric licks and this a guitar that lets you do both. Take it for what it's worth. Your mileage may vary.

Seagulls are great guitars. Also look at Simon and Patrick. Both are made by the same company in Cananda. Very good solid top acoustic guitars that also have a great price point.
You know the best tone I ever had was with that little bandmaster cranked to 10. Edward Van Halen, 1980, Guitar Player Magazine.

Yes absolutley! I sold Segul and Simon& Patrick guitars for many years and they are one of the best values out there! I have a Simon & Patrick 12 string and it plays great. S&P and Seagul are the made by a company in Canada. They are distributed or related to Godin guitars. You can get a solid topped guitar for a very reasonable price. I think they keep the price down because of there satin finishes. They usually usea solid cedar top with laminate cherry back and sides. Having said all that cedar is not the best wood for a big sound IMO. Its the combination of Spruce top and rosewood back and sides that has a more full sound.

My local guitar shop has a used Seagull parlor sized acoustic and it's absolutely beautiful. Sounds fantastic. If I could justify it I'd buy it like a shot.
