What Ed would most be proud of?

Hey members wanted to get your thoughts on what Ed would be most proud of?Would it be the the 1st album, where he lit the music biz on fire and change the way we approach playing the guitar?Or would it be 5150,where you change lead singers, kicked are asses at the same time and i think helped produce the album and all at the sametime all the naysayers saying this is career suicide?I think it would be 5150,all brand new not knowing how the fans would accept Sammy and taking a shot at changing up their music a little bit.

Proud of the fact that his music has been appreciated by so many people.

Of course his kid Wolfie, but c'mon other than that and pointing more to career highlights, I would have to say:

    1. Having a #1 single (Jump)after going against Dave's wishes for no keyboards and wanting more cover tunes (ala diver down)

    2. Making such a huge dent in the music business, so he could make his parents proud and retire his dad. ( I think his Dad was a Huge part of Ed's motivation, and Alex's)

    3. Being recognized in Guitar Magazines as a great "MUSICIAN" not just a rock star.

    4. 5150 the album comes out after Dave leaves and it's well recieved, and Ed comments that it finally feels like a "family".

    5. His work with various new guitar gizmo creations, with floyd rose, one pickup one knob, humbucker in a strat, and the D tuna.
(he always admired how Les Paul contributed to inventions that we are still using to this day...solid body guitars, multi-track recording..etc)

    6. And lastly (up until 2000) the ability to have it all. He was endorsed by Peavey (wolfgang,5150), had a beautiful house in the hills with studio in the back, had his inner-circle family within the band, had his wife and son (who were his foundation), was on a Major Label (with complete control over releases), and was getting back into shape physically.

These are things that would seem to be the most important to Ed, in my opinion.

I think what he's most proud of musically is also what he hates the most. That he invented/inspired a new style on the guitar. A new way of looking at it and playing the instrument, and a new sound that kicked the worlds ass for a decade. Think he may even have said as much somewhere. But he was also copied and ripped off ad nauseum, which inspired a generation of players who didn't "get it", and he hates that about it.

I again have to say that he is most proud of Woflie. I could tell after watching the boots with both of them in it together that Ed was just so proud of his son and that they have such a good relationship with each other.

slight topic change, but sorta relates to the above post...

Is it possible that he's haunted by his past success and fears he can no longer be relevant in today's music industry?

I agree with Rebel67 on this one.
I think Edward was proud to be able to include his father on Diver Down. That was so cool.

I also think Edward would be proud of the musical legacy of VH for his son to hopefully continue. I would also think that Edward would be proud of his musical contributions to the guitar world, and to the music world with the release of the classic six-pack. And then to move past that with 5150, and to achieve greater heights of musical creativity, not to mention longevity.

But how the hell would I know?? Hell, maybe Edward's most proud of his golf game.

He reinvented the way to play an instument. That will be his everlasting legacy and what(musically)he should feel proudest about.
