Default the 'post your compositions in verse' thread

let's see how long this thread lasts before being buried...

    hand in hand

    The innocent glances
    The moonlit dances
And letís not forget those guilty chances
Just hold my hand, close your eyes

    Hand in hand
    We promised
    For better or worse
    Empty handed
    Broken hearted

    Together we laughed
    Together we cried
I now hold your hand, one last time

    Hand in hand
    We promised
    For better or worse
    Empty handed
    Broken hearted

Lay a flower, name in stone
Wipe a tear, I stand alone
    My love, so dear

    Hand in hand
    We promised
    For better or worse
    Forever empty handed
    Forever broken hearted

My advice is to go for the alien abduction story. Look bemused, dishevelled and on the verge of tears as you recount your story of intrusive and degrading medical tests.
Worked for me anyway. I still have colleagues asking me what it is like to fuck a green womanoid with seventeen breasts.

That is really, really good! Here's one of my pieces of crap!

    It's been a few minutes
since the final time we talked,
    when, so abruptly,
    we had to stop.

    I'm crying right now
    I wish you could see,
but the only time we met
    was in each other dreams.

    You were
the sweetest person in the world.
    Sweeter than
any other man, woman, boy, or girl.

    You deserved better.
    You know it's true!
    You shouldnt've listened to me,
    I should've listened to you.

    I hate the fact
    we can never talk again.
    Both you and I knew
we were more than just friends.

    We loved each other,
all the way to our heart's core,
    but, now that we can't,
I feel "What's the point of life anymore?"
So you broke down, trying to leave town, I broke down crying on your return. You left me feeling hopeful, I'll never see your face again. You made for a bad lover's liver. You stole all the covers and busted my head. You made me such an asshole, I wish we'd never met. I'm tired of being bored. I'm through with the headaches. Hiding my hands that tremble like earthquakes. Under the table, under the daytime sky, Good Fucking Bye- Good Fucking Bye, Alkaline Trio

    nice evhslilhottie !

    know

    Living their solemn life
    In this poverty stricken nation
    With no turning back
    From selfish generations

Shattered dreams from one parent families
    Wall Street lined their pockets
    From burning mother earthís trees

    Americans in disgust...
Foreign governments, bringing their people to their knees
    Their futures blank
Ours financed by a forty-story bank

    Generation 9/11, Y, Z, or X?
    Give me a break
Just another cash cow the corporations make

For what it is, I donít know
How can we change this course?
    I donít know
What will happen and where will we go?
    I donít know

    On one side,
the super-info highway, a rural kidís driveway
    the other side,
    yet another drive-by buried
the remnants, of an inner city castaway

With little effort to get by,
they live for that narcotic high
They say thereís nothing to do,
and liberal fingers point to me and you

No securities from a blind-sided education
    What do you want?
    Weíre a Super-Nation!

For what it is, I donít know
How can we change this course?
    I donít know
What will happen and where will we go?
    I donít know

    Default air it, share it

    air it, share it

take that knife out of my back
slap a price on it and label it sold
who are you to put me down?
this public consumption of personal issues,

when someone stands on another manís way
why canít someone be brave and say
lets live in peace, in mother america
    yeah right, mother america!
the land we rape which we call home,
home to the citizens that politics fleece

air it, share it - on public tv
air it, share it - for all to see
    air it, share it
thereís no sitting on this fence!
    air it, share it

they try and sell it to me
    no thank you
i donít need your guilty conscience
shape it, rape it - push it on us

    put the money in hand
steal it, sell it - push it on us
    put the money in hand
    payday for their consequence

take that knife out of my back
slap a price on it and label it sold

who are you to put me down?
this public consumption of personal issues,
    is getting old,
glossy it up, their sorrow looks good

    sell it to Hollywood

    Good stuff, Voivod.
    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

-Derrick Jensen, "What We Leave Behind"

"You know what's weird to me is Christians who are against the death penalty. After all, if it weren't for the death penalty, we wouldn't celebrate Easter!"

    -the late, great, Bill Hicks

Default here is my little bit of nothing

All I wanted to say is goodbye
I wanted to touch your hand
I wanted to feel the warmth
Try to see if you could understand

All I remember is the quiet
    And the almost bare stare
The white sheets that seemed incomplete
As if they were barely keeping you there

So I wonder what is behind the faint smile
Was it a happy gesture or just motion?
As I felt the memories come and go
Like a child lost in a commotion

So I walk as lost in time
I realize I never really tried
To late to bring it back as it was
Canít long for what I let go by

So I take a seat next to stone
My only companion is the wind passing by
To late for the words crossing my mind
No one hears the faint whispered goodbye
    DAVE vs SAMMY

People need to let this go.....it is like comparing an ex wife to your current wife...you can say how things would have be different if she were still here but she left you, so you moved on with your life.....

Same with Van Halen...would they have liked to have Roth stay, yes...but he decided to leave so they moved on.......

and the rest is historyÖ.. well until 1996ÖÖ..lol

    Default 'Hope' Station

    'Hope' Station

Beyond a row of rusted bridges
The endless line of silent rails
    Like skipping through time-faded pages
There lies a chamber of all faiths

When standing in a field of light
    Observing every thing so clear
It's when a time shows all it's might
And reverie of future seems so near

    Chorus

    The wish returns
    It's hard to find
And once decided you will lose protection

    You're on your own
    Before you hit the storm
And cabs pass by and always miss 'Hope' Station

The will of fate ain't turning round
And there's no need to stop it
Not there's a point why it should be found
But there are those who just can't help it

    Chorus

Ok i'll give this a shot. I've been writing songs (music and lyrics) for quite sometime now, i tend to write from personal experience these lyrics are definetly autobiographical.

    Human Nature

Looking back on my life, so much pain and misery
Some wounds have yet to heal, and a few scars can be seen
But i'm alive and well and doing fine, yes i'm doing the best i can
I won't let the past get the better of me, i'm going to face it like a man
Cause i've realized one or two things in all of these years i've lived
None of us are perfect, we've all fallen short and committed sin
But i realize that it's Human nature

Looking back on my life, so many mistakes i have made
I know that i have hurt you, yes i know that i'm the one to blame
If i could just turn back the hands of time, i'd do things diferently
I swear i'd never hurt you, and i'd love you faithfully
They say it's easier to hurt the ones you love, to break a heart betray a trust
We let each other down so easily, but it's just not right that we should be -
this way - But it's human Nature

It's not so easy to forgive and forget, we don't come by it naturally
We need a higher power to help us in our time of need
So i'm thanking you for forgiving me and showing me real love
It's been said that love can conquer all, it was written in the heavens above
The love of god is all we need to live, to give us strength and help us forgive
To give us hope, to give us peace, to gives us life, to set us free
    It's Human Nature

Now i don't want this song to be a justification
Of all the things we say and do
    It's just a fact a realization
    An acknowledgement of the truth
Because i know, That it's Human Nature

My demo of this is 6:01, kinda hard to tell your life story in that length of time, i did the best i could without being to specific.
    Peace,

    G

    Let It Go

You Think it's the money, well it ain't
You know what it is in your heart
    betrayed, abused, and tossed aside
like some used up broken ride

Let it Go, Johnny, Let it Go
it's simply not worth the pain
Let it Go, Johnny, Let it Go,
or you'll never get out of the rain

You're manic, touched, and not yourself
    you're judgemental of angels
there's no way you can't see
if you look deep inside of me

Let it Go, Johnny, Let it Go
it's simly not worth the pain
Let it go, Johnny, Let it Go
    make yourself again sane

Why would I miss you for all
    the hurt you've casued
I can't picture your face anymore
I'm moving on you've turned on me
    and I've Let it Go!

Let it Go, Johnny, Let it Go
it's simply not worth the pain
Let it go, Johnny, Let it Go
Let it go, let it GO, Let it Go

I'm starving; yet my stomach is full
I'm penniless; yet my pockets are not empty
I'm lost; yet I have the world at my feet
I'm lonely; yet I know I'm loved my many
I'm searching; for something within reach
I'm wondering; will there ever be contentment?

    im totally taken aback!
there is some very real talent on this board.
i cant believe how good this stuff is!

i'll have to find some of mine.
here's one i wrote real quick one day, playing with allitertation...

its not great, but it works:

    Salty souls seated softly,
    supple songs serenade...
    Satisfied simpllicity singing solo,
Superstars spoil sprightly sunrises, saddened since september..
    suggestive?
    specific?
    sincere?
    search...
