    Default Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

    Yeah, Let Sleeping Dogs Lie...

It has been both enjoyable and sad reading these forums for the last year or so. The excitement of the tour. The tension between the alcoholic artist and the party grandpa with dollar signs reflecting in his wrap around sunglasses. The sound of that guitar through those amps, unmistakable, irreplacable.

I really think its now time for us all to disassemble and move on.

There are better things we could all be doing, myself included, but we are so drawn to the magic that was Van Halen. We are like a bunch of children who - en masse - refuse to believe that Santa does not exist.

The Beatles said the love you take is equal to the love you make. Like it or not, Van Halen is now a corporation, a franchise, 'kinda like AJAX innit?' as Mr. Roth articulated while licking the cocaine off his teeth before cracking that famous smile. Not alot of love coming out of the Halen camp these days. They are giving us sweet F all compared to the artistic potential that sits sheltered in the cedar walls of 5150. Sleeping dogs lying.

I challenge us all to move on. Maybe we'll even find a new band that even halfway lights the fire that Van Halen once did. Until then, the ball is in their court.

I hope those god damned dogs wake up!

Sure we don't know you from somewhere?

As far as Van Halen now being a corporation...I guess you were a only a fan when they were playing shows for free. Unless you're a Pasadena whore in her fifties, I doubt that's the case.

Now, for your second post, since you managed to slag Ed, Sam, and Dave in your first, let's hear about how Mikey and Al are mere cogs in the deus ex machina, and are easily replaceable.

VH means a lot to some of us and we aren't ready to just let that go. 20 years ago VH was everywhere-- MTV, magazines, on tour, new albums, etc. Now the only place to get a VH fix and keep them alive is by listening to the old stuff and coming on here to talk about them with other VH fans. I'm not ready to move on and quite frankly nothing I've heard over the last 10 years has inspired me to listen to anything else.

This place has become a second home to me , and Van Halen itself has very little to do with why I come here anymore ! The people are cool and there's plenty of other things to discuss other than VH !
I'll be here as long as Brett is !
