O.K so I might be dreaming a bit here but I'm curious to find out how much you guys would be prepared to pay for the following VH 'Best of Both Worlds' DVD box set????:

    • DISK1 -
the OFFICAL documentry covering all era's with band with band commentary including Dave, Sam & Gary

    • DISK2 -
the making of 'VH1 studio album' incuding track by track breakdown by Dave/band Donn.L & Ted.T in studio.

    • DISK3 -
the making of '5150 studio album' incuding track by track breakdown by Sam/band Donn.L & Mike.J in studio.

    • DISK4 -

    $49.99 - Because it's the past.

$99.99 - If it was part of a 2005-06 World Tour DVD package.

Just my opinion and price range from something like that coming from Van Halen at the moment.

lets see a van halen box set. it could include. all music from the three era's.
a dvd of the bands history with all three singers.
and if they follow the kiss rule of mass merchandising, they could have three different levels of pricing .the top level box set would include any eddie art work, alex could include marriage advice , how to let your career end advice .sam could offer his tequila , mike could include his sauces and whatever dave is selling . maybe medical advice or how to be medic in nyc. that would be a great box set. fans would go crazy for it.backed by a world tour featuring all three singers.......lol

I think the price would depend on what exactly would be in the set.
Having shelled out quite a bit for VH stuff over these many years (decades??) it really wouldn't matter to me. I would hope tho that I wouldn't be as disappointed with the dvd as I was with their videos collection dvd or their concerts that had no extras whatsoever. The one show I did love was their Right Here Right Now since it had somewhat short interviews with the guys. That was cool.
So, for me it would depend on what would be included with the set. I'd probably end up buying it anyways.

I'm sorry it's a horrible reason to you but I just refuse to be stuck in the past and spend money on things I've already experienced and that nobody's put any effort into in the past 20 years. "Oh, hey! Remember this??... It's on DVD now." C'Mon, man.

Nobody's dead in this band so why can't I have something that's current? "It's not available", "They aren't doing anything, right now", "They have no singer" or "We have a singer for the next 5 minutes" is becoming a pretty sad excuse for me to spend money on the band right now.

The model I would use for a box set would be The Beatles Anthology CDs. All three of these volumes were comprised of unreleased material (live tracks, alternate versions of classic songs, demos and unreleased songs). It was interesting to hear different takes of what I'd already heard before. Not to mention the unreleased songs...some of which were great and others that weren't great, but interesting nonetheless.

Who needs four CDs of the same old crap with a few rarities thrown in?? How about the Gene Simmons demos or the 25-song Warner Bros. demo?? Otherwise, I'll just find someone who gets it and have them burn the unreleased tracks for me like I've done with other artists.

Make it for the true fans. There are already two "best-ofs" for casual fans or those looking to get into VH.
