I always thought Steve was underrated (even as popular as he was back in the day)...

...and gotta give props to a fellow Texan.

    Love "Fly Like An Eagle".

    Love "Fly Like An Eagle".

Agreed. But I do like Seal's better. I think the song just
fits better in the genre he sings.

I like a lot of his popular tunes - only have Greatest Hits 1974-78 (and what person that likes any Steve Miller Band doesn't?) and a couple of other songs - but I have heard that he sucks live.

Back when I was younger I love to take my cheapo stereo and put a speaker on each side of my head and play "Fly Like An Eagle". Just a great song to get immersed into! (And that was only the short version on the FM soundtrack!)

I Heard he is kinda boring live. I think some are live bands and some
    are studio bands....

Saw him back in 1977 when the Book Of Dreams album was out. He did a great show with 3 encores.

Love Steve. Some truly classic rock songs came from the Joker.

Although the one time I saw him live, he was so stoned he forgot the words to 'Take the Money and Run.'

SMB was one of my first concerts; saw them in the early 90s, @ an outdoor venue. I thought they were great live (but my judgement was a bit impaired with booze ).

I love the Steve Miller Band! Steve always had a rhythm section that was tighter than a witch's cleft and his songs had enough hooks to land a boat full of steelhead. Amazing!

I love Book Of Dreams and, of course, Greatest Hits 1974-78. I grew up on these albums, both on 8-track and on vinyl. When I got my CD player in 1989 the second CD I bought was Greatest Hits 1974-78.

I have played in bands that covered the following SMB songs:
    - "Take The Money And Run" - everyone in the audience would do the claps...always loved that!
    - "The Joker" - done it by itself and as a medley with Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away".
    - "Jet Airliner"
    - "The Stake" - one band I was in used to do a really loud, raucous version of this one. Like Blue Cheer molesting SMB.
    - "Rock'N Me" - great song but I didn't think it was fun to play.
    - "Fly Like An Eagle" - done by itself or as a medley with Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" (as covered by Soul Asylum)
    - "Swingtown" - we used to do this in the middle of the Beastie Boys' "Fight For Your Right". That was a happy accident that turned out to be one of our best songs.

There is no amount of booze in the world that would ever make anyone think that SMB sucks. They are untouchable live.

I remember winning " Book Of Dreams" album at a game in Wildwood, N. J. in 77. Love the Stake and Wintertime. The wife got me Wide River in 93. Cool Album. Saw Stevie "Guitar Miller" at a small ampitheater here a few years ago. Great show. Also have his first album on Vinyl.

Anyone going to see them in Houston this Saturday? A friend of mine from College Station just called with some extra tickets and I'm seriously considering going...never seen them in concert.
    Meet me in Cabo!
