    Default Anyone heard Crossing over?

I heard it at the Van Halen myspace site. Apparently its on an import copy of BOBW and I like it alot. Better than LTS. What do you guys think of it?

No not BOBW, it's on the Japanese import of Balance. If you can find the cd single for Cant Stop Lovin' You you'll find Crossing Over on the b-side.

It's a pretty cool song. Listen to it with headphones on. It takes on a whole different realm. Eddie plays drums on one side, Alex plays drums on the other.

Oh really? Well that Van Halen myspace is very misleading.

It is Ed's most innovative guitar work since Fair Warning I think. The stereo panning effect would kick so much ass live, that I can't understand why they don't play it.

It's true headphones will blow your mind on this song.
You know the best tone I ever had was with that little bandmaster cranked to 10. Edward Van Halen, 1980, Guitar Player Magazine.

I have to admit the intro to this song is CLASSIC and is spine shivering. But other than Eddie's guitar work it doesn't rank on my top 10, however it feels and sounds really deep and kinda of dark. I just couldn't picture it being on any album. And I think that if it was on Balance it wouldn't be as big a deal as it is Unreleased.
I read a story that Ed recorded some of it in the early 80's and then went back to the recording and recorded some more during the Balance recording sessions.

I wound't rank it over Learning to See though, but that's my personal opinion.

I've heard Eddie dedicated this song to his friend who commited suicide, I don't know the story though. I listen to Crossing Over as a finishing tune on the Balance and it fits perfectly for me there. Very dark indeed, that's why I like it so much

Don't believe everything you read, especially on the internet.

I like this song, but it just never seems to go anywhere. But the effects listening to it by headphone is reason enought to listen; pretty cool.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
