    Default Has anyone seen this?

    From Melodic Rock..

WHAT ALMOST WAS - JOHN MELLENCAMP & EDDIE VAN HALEN:
On the promotional trail in support of his recent best of release Words and Music, John Mellencamp made an interesting comment in regard to guitarist Eddie Van Halen. It seems the two nearly joined up for an acoustic tour four years ago.
On the question of doing an acoustic tour, this was John's reply: "Actually, yeah, I have. Eddie Van Halen and I talked about it four years ago. He would play acoustic guitar and I would sing. We talked about it for three months. I went to MTV in the mid-80s, and they'll verify the story, and said, I want to do a concert in acoustic guitars. A couple years later they came up with acoustic ó or unplugged. That was me (my idea)."
Another interesting response was his answer to a question about recording a country album. John's reply: "No, not really. Country sure has changed in the last 10 years. It was one thing, then it was another. Country has slowly marched toward a rock beat and rock preservation. Country artists of today. Man! That's how I used to sound in the `80s."

if you watch the vh count down on metal bands / rock hard rock. mellan camp praises vh saying what a great band they are and that they are talented each member. and that even their shitty songs sound great. but that would be awesome to see eddie and jm together. remembers of that srv / jeff beck with tour from the early 90's.

I wonder if this sprang from that City of Hope concert where they played together?

Yeah, I remember this. This is right around the time Eddie fired everybody from Van Halen, including his own brother.

Am I the only one that thinks that would be nearly as painful as Van Cherone?

I like Mellencamp as much as the next guy...but ugh...

Man, this is music! You know, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but let's get off the anti VHIII wagon. It's over, some liked it, some did not. Get over it, people! Quite honestly, I would simply love to see Ed and Al doing something. Anything! Rather than sit in murky corners, surfing Internet porn.

There would be nothing painful about it all. In fact, I wish it would happen.
