Default Just heard Sammy's newest single "I'll Take You There"

On the WRIF Detroit today I just heard Sammy Hagar's newest single "I'll take you there" a remake of an old song and boy does it suck! I love Sammy but this song blows. He should have left this one alone!

Default As much as I love Sammy

The remake of this song sounds a lot like a pitch for his Cabo Wabo bars..

    I'll take you there..

I love everything Sammy has done solo, especially since the breakup in 1996, but this is kind of lame. He was really on the right track with the stuff on Not 4 Sale...

All these bands with their covers...geez...it is too much...
Melodicrock has tons of stories with people in music covering other people's music...

Def Leppard, Styx, Rick Springfield the list goes on. If I wanted to hear a cover, I'd put on Diver Down, sheesh.

I heard this song shortly after his last show in Vegas a few weeks ago. It's pure crap. As much flack as Sam gets for not being a prolific songwriter, he has written other so-called "cheese" songs that are gems compared to this one. It's basically "Cabo Wabo Pt. III", along with the classic tune he chose to cover.

He more or less covered the Staples Singers' "I'll Take You There", and then lifted a few lyrics from "Cabo Wabo" ('Let me take you down', 'Down in Cabo, you'll be kissin' the ground'), reworked those, and then came up with a "new" song. It's almost as bad as sampling, to be honest.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

I heard the last 20 seconds or so on KLOS just now and I liked what I heard.
    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

-Derrick Jensen, "What We Leave Behind"

"You know what's weird to me is Christians who are against the death penalty. After all, if it weren't for the death penalty, we wouldn't celebrate Easter!"

I'm going to try a new drinking game where I take a swig every time Sammy says "love" or something referring to feelings. I'm hoping this will be a good tune.

it *IS* supposed to be free, so I wouldn't be too critical...

So basically...we could have just said...

"Hagar's performance on the new song equals any performance from the past...well...his whole past..."

C'mon...the guy's washed up...he used the VH name to extend a career that would have ended 6 months after he stopped driving 55...
