It's not that bad. You make it sound like no one of any importance or popularity will be playing the event.

    http://www.sarniabayfest.com/

    July 14th - 3 Doors Down & Staind
July 15th - David Lee Roth & Kalan Porter
    July 16h - Kid Rock

DLR may have gotten a less than stellar opening act, but the weekend looks like it's going to be filled with some decent music. Sounds kind of fun actually.

*edit - BTW, thanks for the information. I've never heard of Bayfest. I live in Michigan, about an hour away myself. I might go that weekend and check the place out. Could be a fun, cheap weekend.

    Puppet Show:

Upstaged Spinal Tap at Themeland Amusement Park in Stockton, California, during 1982 U.S. tour, prompting an outburst by interim manager Jeanine Pettibone: "I’ve told them a hundred times: put ‘Spinal Tap’ first and ‘Puppet Show’ last." The band did get a larger dressing room than the puppets.

Dave's sounding pretty damned coherent these days though, so it may be a good show. His interviews/radio show sound good. He's still obviously burnt but he's able to string his borrowed aphorisms together a lot better than he has in years. What a character. They don't make 'em like Roth anymore.

I saw him in Orillia @ the Casinorama last year in November and it worked for me. They were better than Van HAGAR were in Hamilton the next week, by a long shot (Eddie is out of control).

Dave's working a lot harder at actually singing.

A thought:If you go to a Casino you need to sit near the front where the party is, because they heavily comp the crowd and you will be lonely and out of place sitting next to "Herb and Thelma" singing along to Running With the Devil.

Heck, I may head over to Sarnia myself to watch Lusier, Roth and Lorenzo do their ting one more time. Hope to see you there. Maybe I'll have some T shirts printed or something...

I was at that show too. I was really sick, but I went anyway to see Diamond Dave, it was worth it! It was an awesome show, Dave was great, and so was his band. Yankee Rose was the best song by far!!!

WTF?? DLR is OPENING for the 04 Canadian Idol?? That guy is BRUTAL. This is a VERY low point.

Seriously, I'm Canadian and I can't sand that guy; but love DLR.

Dave, seriously, pull together a group of guys and do your own tour....pull together Whitesnake, Poison, Journey and watch the sales go wild. Hell, open up for Motley Crue; just not Kalan....
Winners come and go; legends are forever.

Oh come on now? Even though I'm a "Roftard" and am "stuck in 1984" lol we all have to admit the truth. Outside of our community and handful of others, nobody gives a rats ass about Dave or VH. Fuck, take almost ANY "heavy hitter" from our genre and they don't sell shit. Example, we have Motley doing a "reunion" coming here in August and it's still just a small friggin' venue. That's what happens and especially with this generation's lack of a musical scene. Shit, at least with our generation we also got off on a lot of our parents music and that is why so many of those said acts thrived so well cos we also wanted to see them.

Maybe I am a Rothtard, but what the hell is so bad about plaing a festival with three of the biggest bands in rock? If I remember correctly even Metallica palyed this festival a while back.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

Yep, just like Sting is still fronting his Police cover band and Paul McCartney is still fronting his Beatles cover band and Robert Plant is still fronting his Led Zeppelin cover band, etc.

Perhaps it bears repeating that Dave sang those songs originally, dumbass!

I live in Sarnia and this is a fair sized music festival. There will be over 20,000 people each night. Dave is the headliner not opening for Kalan Porter.
3 great bands will be playing at a very cheap price.
3 Doors Down w/Staind on Thursday night, DIAMOND DAVE on Friday night and Kid Rock on Saturday night.

Dave was scheduled to play the Moondance Jam in Minnesota but he bailed and they are going to sue him. I am glad he bailed as I can now see him in my own backyard.
