Default 23rd anniversary of Diver Down

this album came out 23 years ago i think its the most underrated roth CD.it has great energy and the guitar work is smoking...the covers are good atleast some of them are good....WHATGTG,pretty woman and happy trails are cool covers.little guitars and the full bug are great originals.

I think this is one of my all time faves! I know there are alot of covers but it really shows you how diverse the band could be! Its goes from Hang em High to Big Bad Bill! How many bands can you think of can go from one extreme to the other. Take any metal band out there and ask them do to something totally different than what they are known for . They wouldnt do it because they would be afraid that there fans wouldnt like it. Thats what I love about VH, and us fans, well rounded!

I don't HATE Diver Down, but it's my least listened to album besides III. I agree that it has some great originals but it seems like such a waste that stuff like DITS and Bid Bad Bill were included but not other originals like Big Trouble and Babe Don't Leave Me Alone.

how could i have missed the 23rd anniv of diver down???

that might be because its their worst one.....(it's all relative though but it is at the bottom of my list of favorite VH albums)....i only have it to complete the collection or else i wouldnt have shelled out the cash for it.

Nothing on III comes anywhere close to Little Guitars and Secrets. DD is a great album!

It's all part of the Classic 6-album Van Halen.

I think Diver Down with the single for Pretty Woman came at the right time. I was young at the time, but I'll just go from what I know. WACF and FW were stellar albums, no doubt. Possibly the best of the entire catalogue...but wouldn't you know it- they sold the worst. I think Van Halen was a touring force, but many were probably wondering which way Van Halen would go. Diver Down came out, showed a commercial side, true, but probably propelled them to that next level, as far as popularity. Without Diver Down, I really don't think 1984 would have been what it was, if that makes sense.

So Happy B-day Diver Down...you silly little record, you.

Wow another anniversary???? I remember buying this when it came out on cassette, and I bought the 45 of Pretty Woman just for the pictures on the jacket. I think I posted about the picture inside of the case showing the boys at a huge show. A lot of foggy but good memories with this one! Nothing beats Intruder!!! Happy anniversary!!

Plus, Ed was in inventive high gear. We take it for granted now, but
I had never heard anything like Cathedral from gtr before - although
I'm sure it was inspired by Holdsworth's similar but different use of
    volume swells+delay.
