That's a good question. Some songs are easy to explain, and some aren't. First of all, there were some songs that were not played live on the tour, that have somehow found their way onto the live album. Mainly, Love Walks In, Dreams, and Won't Get Fooled Again. These songs were seemingly just played in the studio and had some crowd noise added in to them. The other songs, like BOBW, OWTR, and WCTBL, are harder to explain. IMO it is because those songs were already on LWAN, and it was some kind of a ploy to get you to go out and buy that too so that you could see those songs live. And if that's not the case, then there is really no good reason that those songs are not on the live album.

Van Halen has annoyed me for about ten years now, but like the good little sheep that I am, I will sit here and anxiously yet patiently await the new studio album. And wait...

I never knew Love Walks In, Dreams, and WGFA were just played in the studio with crowd noise played over it. If this fact or is it a rumour? I have a video of VH playing WGFA in 5150 but the song is played differently on LRHRN. Thats pretty sad to hear. But I don't care, it's still a kickass album and CD. I'm just pissed that they didn't put Panama on the DVD. What an awesome song that was on the CD. RIGHT NOW!!!!

I never bought the RHRN CD, and looking at it again in the used bins last
week I remembered why: BORING. I don't care about any of those songs.
Just came from the Diver Down thread and, as maligned as that record is,
I'll take it any day over this collection.

I really doubt those songs were performed in the studio with the crowd noise added to them. Listen to the beginning of Love Walks In- Sammy talks to the crowd. Was he just talking to an empty microphone booth?

The cd and DVD features songs from both nights of the show that was played at Fresno California. No way in hell were some of the songs done in the studio with crowd effects.

Wrong...the shows (both nights) were originally recorded for Westwood One, for a radio broadcast.

I've heard the bootlegs...Love Walks In, Dreams and WGFA were not played either night.

The publicity at the time said it was a "compilation" of a few tours, yet no one has come up with a bootleg of WGFA performed live...so, where did it come from?

By the way, the crowd noise on Frampton Comes Alive is mainly spliced from a Stones tour. There is no such thing as a "real" live album, unless it's a bootleg. Every live record is doctored, one way or another.

I think you'll find the tracks were recorded from various locations on the F.U.C.K. tour for the live album. Not all of it was from Fresno or the Westwood One recordings.
I'm sure I've read, possibly even in the VH encyclopedia, that the Westwood One recordings were what inspired the band to release a live album, however not all of the tracks that ended up on RHRN were from those gigs.

Let's be honest, RHRN is one of the worst live albums there is. When you couple the fact that VH's live show used to be one of the best fire-breathin' rock shows on earth with the quality of the DVD, it's a crime.

For a band that *claims* to care so much about the product, I still can't believe they released it.
