    Default Reunions

It seems that every major group in the history of rock and roll has staged a reunion at some point, with the exception of the Beatles. It may have been for one show only (The Police at RARHOF, Zepplin at Live Aid or Atlantic Records) or multiple tours (The Eagles,The Who). Even death can't stop it(The 21st Century Doors, Queen with Paul Rodgers). Are some things better off left alone? What reunions did you like and which ones didn't you like, and where would you rank VH's reunion?

From the bands you named Van Halen, I think, would be ranked above all of them. This Queen with Paul Rodgers tour will either be good or terrible. It's not Queen without Freddie Mercury and to continue on under the name Queen I think is just a money grab. This Motley Crue tour however seems to be very entertaining. However, the original line up was only on hiatus for 6 years until this year, So it wasn't as long as VH's 9 years without Sammy. Also the 2004 VH Reunion tour, i'm sure, sparked many other bands to think about reuniting. I can almost guarantee that the Motley Crue tour was sparked by VH's success because you can look at the similiarities.

VH makes the official announcement with a "New band picture" on the webite. Motley Crue does the same.
VH puts out a Greatest hit package with 3 new songs to support their tour. Motley Crue does the same.

After all the feuds and fights and bad blood between Sammy and VH I think it's making other bands realize that if Vh can do it. So can they.

personally, I'm glad to hear Cream is reuniting even though its only in the U.K.
Pink Floyd with Roger Waters would sell great, but don't think it would happen.
other bands I wish could re-unite with their original members would be: Supertramp
Van Halen, and what the hell Guns n roses

The Crue was held up by Mick's uncertain health condition.

I was just looking at the similarities between the 2. But what I was getting at was that after VH resolved their differences with Sam after 9 years of bad blood I think other bands now see that they can do they same thing. Whether the Crue were planning their tour before VH came back that's probably right but why did they wait? If it was so long in planning.

Another thing I always was curious about: Many people in VH camp said that the stage for this past tour took 3 years to build. Can somebody clarify this for me?

For the record, Supertramp's original lineup did tour Canada (at the very least) in late 2003-2004.

Yeah I've pointed out the Crue similarities a few times. In all fairness, I look at it more as a 6 year absence, Cherone wasn't a good fit, but no matter the lead singer VH has a prolonged absence in any case, except for the first Dave split. Wait a sec....6 years VH, 6 years Motley Crue, are they the same band??

The second original line-up (without sid barrett, of course) of Pink Floyd with Roger Waters would be incredible (IF they would even sound good together after all these years)... there was a rumor that they played at Y2K in Egypt, but i think that's all it was, a rumor... they havent played since the early 80s right? 'The Wall' tour??
