    Next Favorite Band

What is your favorite band or artist other than Van Halen? I basically want to know your second favorite band or artist, assuming Van Halen is your first. If Van Halen is not your favorite by some chance then I want to know what or who is. I heard that in one of the big Pink Floyd forums, they ran a similar pole at some point and Kiss actually won. I couldn't believe it so I'm running the same thing here to see what else people are into. If I see a lot of similar answers I want to start a poll.

I'm gonna start by saying my second favorite is close between Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. I have almost everything ever released by both. I give the edge to Floyd though. I have 41 albums (including a couple boots and counting double and triple albums 2 and 3 times) totalling in 381 tracks for them alone on my computer. I own all the released recordings and compilations and some of the boots. A couple boots are burned. I have all the videos, books, etc... Now you may be saying "But FatStrat, that's a lot for a mere 19 year old, even one as sexy and intelligent as yourself. Where'd you get that kind of moneyizle homieshizle? Blahizle blahizle blahizle...". Well, most of it my Dad already owned, so I just had to fill in the gaps and become a superfan. I'm a bigger fan of VH but I love Floyd just as much if that makes any sense. While VH satisfies my primal listening urges more as a guitarist and rocker, Floyd satisfies my listening urges more as a music student and writer. Floyd is my deep, introspective band while VH is my fun, "my band can kick your band's ass" band. But VH is the only one I've spent 400 dollars to see and countless hours in a forum on. VH Rocks!!!

Extreme is my second favorite band. I love their songs, they have awesome harmonies and great guitar playing by Nuno too. I bought every Extreme album the day that VH announced that Gary was in Van Halen. I loved them all.

For me, it's a tie between Extreme and Motley Crue.

It's hard to say what my next favorite band is. For the longest time it was Metallica - then St. Anger came out and kinda dampened that. I'd say in the last year it's a tie between Tantric, Fuel, and U2.

    Default Next Fav. Band

in no particular order and not the obvious and safe Zep/Floyd/Who/Beatles picks:

Kings X-tight kick ass music, great guitar sound, tight arrangements, great vocals...and they are a three piece band!

Hoobastank-they cheesed it up with "The Reason" song, but both of their albums have some great songs on them and they know how to do background vocals unlike some of the bands these days

Foo Fighters-Dave Ghrol is a great song writer, may not be up there technically with the best, but as an rounded musician, is one of the best...the Colour and the Shape and the first album have some great stuff on them

Alice in Chains-raw guitar, haunting vocals...too bad about the singer

Up and Comers in My Collection:
Chevelle-how that guy gets a Tele to sound that thick is beyond me, listen to track 1, 3 and 6 on their new album and you'll see what I mean

Breaking Benjamin-didn't like the album at first, but took it on a road trip through the mountains and could not turn it off...give it a listen, it will grow on you

Velvet Revolver-hope this band keeps Weiland off the junk, watched the VH1 thing on them, they all seem to have their shit together

So back to the origional question, I'd have to go with King's X, but I like a bunch of other shit too.

    ...one more up and comer:
Audioslave-Chris Cornell can get a little grainy, but I love Tom Morello's guitar work...that guy have some REALLY cool chops...he has one of the most distinctive sounds around...most of the Rage Stuff, in my opinon, gets ruined when rap boy would jump in, with Cornell, I think the former Rage guys have expanded their sound. Heard the new song the other day, it ROCKED.

I guess i'll go with the Foo Fighters. Extreme/Anything with Nuno is pretty close though.

Every cd the Foo's put out is just awesome. Almost no weak songs or filler on any of them.

I like Rush too, but just about choke everytime they put out a "New" album of "greatest hits"...it seems like they repackage stuff every couple of years, I don't like the way they operate...that's probably due to Satan Daniels though.
