Default Woman Sues for making $83,000 reading books at desk

    Bizzare!

Woman Settles Suit Over Lack Of Work
Woman Gets New Job, Same Pay

    POSTED: 12:20 pm EST March 25, 2005
    UPDATED: 12:24 pm EST March 25, 2005

ALBANY, N.Y. -- A woman who says the state of New York paid her to do nothing has settled a federal civil rights lawsuit.

Patricia Freund said she did nothing but read books in a back room during the past three years as a director at the State Liquor Authority. For that, she was paid nearly $83,000 a year.

With benefits, her job cost taxpayers about $100,000 a year.

The 25-year state employee filed suit, saying her bosses took away her duties after she questioned the practice of state employees attending Gov. George Pataki's annual prayer breakfast.

As part of the settlement, she'll be moving to a new job with the Department of Motor Vehicles, at the same salary.

The Albany Times Union reported Friday that she'll also get $33,000 for legal fees.

Sometimes I'd kill for nothing to do at work. God, think of all the books and studying I could catch up on.

Yeah, I'd love to sit around doing nothing and get paid 100K. That women's really stupid because now she will probably get endless work (in case she files another lawsuit) untill she retires.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

Note to self: Send resume to the State Liquor Authority. Damnit, why can't my job be like that?

I just got a portable DVD player...do you think this would also qualify as suitable activity for the "Authority"? I mean, I would provide my own popcorn and drinks and such...I'm just asking to get paid to watch is all.
