    Default Great Vocal Performances

I'll go with stuff currently rotating in the mix
that has gotten me listening to singers again:

Be Yourself - the way Cornell holds back and just barely pushes it
in spots turns a mediocre tune into something beautiful.

Getting Smaller - never really considered Trent Reznor's vox as anything
great, but he's in control of his instrument and is doing interesting things.

World's Comin Down - How can you not love lines like: "so all you junkie
pimps and you motherfucking whores, enjoy yourself tonight - Alright!"
God Bless Billy Idol for kicking the young punks in the ass and bringing
a sorely needed sense of humour back to hard rock. Fine form from an
    old pro.

Nameless - Fozzy. Wow. So that's what singing in metal sounds like.
    I had totally forgotten.

    Between a Man and a Woman - U2

Anything Geoff Tate did off of Mindcrime or Rage For Order. Also, Prophecy is just SICK!!!!

Steve Perry's work on Street Talk was amazing...

Bruce Dickinson on Number of the Beast... what more needs to be said?

    Halford...Green Manalishi.......must..............scream.......... .....outloud...........

"The sun's not yellow, it's chicken." -Bob Dylan

"Love Hurts" sung by Dan McAfferty, as performed by Nazareth.

If that doesn't rip you up inside, you're already dead.

    [joke]

Jani Lane (Warrant) - Uncle Tom's Cabin It's like you are right there with Jani draggin the body down to the water's edge.

Mike Tramp (White Lion) - When the Children Cry When his voice trembles on the chorus....BREAK OUT THE TISSUE....

Brett Michaels (Poison) - Something to Believe in Do I need to say anything......tear jerker to say the least

    [/joke]

    Ok, seriously......

I can't think right now, but here are a couple:

Steven Tyler (aerosmith) - "Dream on" Any version, live studio......just an amazing song topped off by killer vocals

Robbin Zander (cheap Trick) Really any classic Cheap Trick song will do, I'll pick "Voices". Robbin is one of the best in the biz IMO

Robert Plant (Zepp) - All things Zepp rule. Enough said.

Let's turn it up to 11........Headbanger's Ball!

Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) - Mish, I gotta go with "Wasted Time".....what a great song showcasing Bach's massive pipes!

Did someone say Bruce from Maiden? Up the Irons! I'll say Number of the Beast through Somwhere in Time has Bruce on top of the game!

Halford - All hail the Metal God. Just pick a song and enjoy

    Ozzy - See Halford

    Ronnie James Dio
    - See Ozzy

There are so many, these are just the one's that come to mind.

    God Damn I love music

Robin Zander on "The Flame," live version from the Greatest Hits. That scream at the end is unreal.

Freddie Mercury and David Bowie on "Under Pressure."
    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

-Derrick Jensen, "What We Leave Behind"

"You know what's weird to me is Christians who are against the death penalty. After all, if it weren't for the death penalty, we wouldn't celebrate Easter!"

    -the late, great, Bill Hicks
