    Power Station - Re-Release

The Power Station was one of the "Super Groups" of the 1980s featuring Robert Palmer on vocals, John and Andy Taylor on Bass and Guitar and Tony Thompson on drums. The Taylor bros took a break from Duran Duran and Palmer was hot off "Addicted to Love".

Both Palmer and Thompson have passed away.

This album cooked. British 80s power-pop at it's best. The highlights on this album are "Some Like It Hot" and the cover of Bolan's "Bang A Gong". Some of the cool folks on this board will refference this album and if you've never heard it I reccomend that you check it out.

i think the Power Station came out before Riptide...Amazon says Riptide came out in Nov. of 85, and the Power Station played Live Aid the summer of 85...and Palmer had already left the band before they toured.

The 80s are all a blurr.

Palmer was one of those guys who managed a hit song every 7 to 10 years. "Bad Case Of Lovin' You" is a great song and a great song to have on your set list if you are a cover-band.

Ditto. I heard SLIH again recently and it blew me away how those drums are
still a monster. It's just a classic tune and a good record.

I remember when PS appeared on Miami Vice...with Micheal Desbarres on vocals.
John actually said "The new guy sounds just like the old guy" in the episode.

Palmer had said they'd made an agreement before the record about not touring, yet the band offered it to him anyway.
"Very nice of 19 year olds" was his comment...
This is supposedly going to be a dual-pac release.

Am a HUGE lover of Power Station and Robert Palmer.. he was a local lad for me, coming from Batley, less than 10 minutes away. Was gutted when he passed away. Robert was pure class.

Great album, a must have in anyones collection. I'm pretty sure though that John and Andy aren't related, all 3 of the Taylors in Duran aren't related to each other!!!! It's a shame Palmer and Thompson are no longer with us!!!

    Great record!
A helluva lot better than that horrible "Arcadia" record Simon LeBon did.
