    Default 26th Anniversary of VHII

What memories do you have when this album was released or when you first heard it?

I remember my cousin was trying to kiss me when Women in Love was playing. Of course, I told her to stop!
Homer: No one snuggles with Max Power. Just strap on and feel the Gs!

American Coast Guard: Back off Canadians we got them.
Canadian Coast Guard: You back off hosers, they are in Canadian waters, eh.
American Coast Guard: Beat it you puck smacking maple suckers!
Canadian Coast Guard: Take a hike you Shatner stealing Mexico touchers!

Bart: Who the hell is this?
Jack Bauer: I’m Jack Bauer, who the hell is this?
Bart: Me, er… I’m Ahmed Adudi
Jack: Chloe, get me all you can on Ahmed Adudi… Does anyone there know Ahmed Adudi?
Chloe O’Brien: Ahmed Adudi; wealthy Saudi financier… Disappeared into Afghanistan in the late 90s…
    Jack: … Really?
Chloe (ironically): No Jack it’s a joke name, you’re being set up.
    Jack: DAMMIT!

Ahh the memories!! Foggy as they are, I seem to recall being at a party when I first heard Light up the Sky. After I bought the album, I always, ALWAYS had to have that album playing. It was great!!! Can't believe it's been that long since it came out tho. Are we doing anything for that???

Ditto Summer: No wind, car wrecks, and copious amounts of
illicit subsatnces. DTNA was the first song I ever heard from them,
and I knew they were the new guard. Goodbye Kiss! Hello VH!

One of my memories of VH2 was buying it on vinyl a while back and being excited to hear it crackle on my record player.

My first memory of VHII was seeing it at my cousin's house, and her telling me to listen to Beautiful Girls. We listened to that song a dozen times that day. Must have been right around the time the album came out.

Dance the night Away absolutely fuckin' blew me away! To me, that is the ultimate summer time album. To this day, I love the "kiss" sound at the end of Beautiful Girls!!!

Which memory do you want? When I bought it on vinyl? Cassette? or CD?

Well back when I was about 9 or so (1980) I first heard VHI and even at a young age the guitar playing is what got me hooked, it wasn't so much the songs, but Eddie's guitar gymnastics.
Since I didn't know much about them, the following year I went out and purchased FW. When I found out that there were 2 albums in between I and FW, I was psyched. My cousin had WACF so I recorded that (at first). So VH II was the last of the 1st 4 albums I had heard.
I remember liking the album a lot. DOA, Spanish Fly and Beautiful Girls were awesome. I recognized You're No Good, because my mom had been playing her Linda Ronstadt records around the house and she had a version of that song as well. I played VH's version for my mom and, well you know how mom's are!!!
    Ahhh....memories.....

I guess I took care of my memories for the 1st 4 albums.

Ya I got it in the summer a few yrs back, it is definately a summer album. Kind of like Fair warning is a October kind of album to me. VH1 is an easter one to me, so I'll be popping it in soon. Love VHII, Light Up The Sky and D.O.A. are the best! I remember a few months back, I couldn't put the CD down for a month straight!!!!

Classic album. I wasn't alive when it was released, but when I bought it, I thought it was pretty good. It rocked. Now I like it even more. For a while I couldn't find it, so when I finally did, I remembered just how damn good the album is. It's one of VH's best. I actually like ALL the songs. Spanish Fly certainly gives Eruption a decent run for its money.

VHII is Dave's best moment on album in my opinion. Per a recent interview he did in England it is his favorite album too.

When VH was doing promo for VHIII in 98, Alex appeared on 98 Rock in Baltimore. He was asked what VH song should go in a vault called "VH Songs That Really Suck" and he said "Dance the Night Away, I hate that song." WTF? Guess that is why they never play it live.

Step away from the pipe Al, just step away...
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his
