Check this story out here. www.zen21375.zen.co.uk/hendrix_amp.htm

    here's the ebay link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=7306711140

I can't imagine what the selling price would have been...

I can't even imagine what the value of this amp would be, being owned and played by Hendrix, but when it sells it'll be snapped up by one or a group of collectors here or overseas, and the amp will probably never see the light of day again.
Sad, because if you're gonna build a plexi copy this would be the one to copy.
I imagine that's what Jim Marshall has in mind.

I dont understand...how come all these amps from back in the day are like gold now? Why cant, with all the technology these days, these things be recreated? Why dont they make plexis like that these days?

Unfortunately no two plexi heads sound alike because tolerances of electrical components in those days could vary by 20% easily, not to mention caps, and transformers, which would give you large variances in tone from one amp to the next.
I've owned 4 plexi's and no two sounded alike.
My first one was the best amp I've ever played to this day, period, and although I know where it is I'll never be able to buy it back.
If Hendrix kept this one I figure there would have to be a special sound to it.
Marshall would have to try to measure the actual output and resistance of each componenet, and even then it wouldn't sound exactly the same, although I imagine they could get it pretty close.
It's still not the same as having " the " amp though.

    I agree with that...

ITS ALL BULLSHIT.......the whole thing people and guitar gear ooOOOoo this one was owned by Hendrix....

ooOOOOoooo this one was played by Eddie Van Halen...

What the fuck is the big deal?

Seriously and the old farts who have the $$$$$$ to be able to own this kinda stuff are the kinda assholes who lock it away.... its not a guitar or amp to them its $$$$$$$$$$$........... :irke

I bet if you take some Mex Strat and hand it to Hendrix he would play it and after hes done with that guitar (which had a pirce tag of lets say....$450....would then sell for $450,000)...

Andwhats even funnier is guitar enthuisiats would start to discuss how the mexican strat has slightly different pickups than the American model and the year it was made and how the planets where alined..blah ....blah..blah

    ITS ALL BULLSHIT!

Absolutely 100% totally agree with you there. They'll lock it away in a glass cabinet and look at it all day
