Default Hall of Fame wants Dave in VH

I figure this might belong in the opinion section, but I'm only hear to ask the question... As I was sitting home this weekend watching tv, I saw the VH-1 special (repeat) of the RRHF w/ U2 being inducted. So here goes
Why the hell would VH not be inducted ?? The only thing I can come up w/ is the fact that the original lineup is not intact. Maybe someone else knows a better reason?? I could go on and on as to why I believe they should be in.
I really don't care how unstable they have been in the last 10 yrs or so, they have the body of work that far exceeds what I would think would be required. Also, they helped change the face of Rock and Roll and there is no denying that... All roads lead to Roth... Love him or hate him, I guarentee that if Roth is in the band in 2005, VH will be in the Hall next yr.

Screw the RARHOF! I used to really want VH in also, but consider this they just inducted Percy Sledge. Percy Sledge had exactly one big hit in his whole life, "When A Man Loves A Woman". Yet he's in over VH. Makes a lot of sense don't you think

I think you're spot on there - but are the band that bothered about being inducted?

You people are all delusional. Why whould the RRHOF be so intested in DLR who has been completely irrelevant since the late 80s?? What he accomplished with VH was HoF caliber, however, if he was fronting VH into the 90s they would have died with the other bands of that era. Sam gave them 2 more #1 albums (in addition to his other 2) at the height of grunge. Go back to your other website and revise history over there.

Why ANOTHER thread about the RORHOF? Who gives a flying rats ass if VH is in there, and if they were, who gives a crap as to who their singer is?

    Enough with the HOF already.

Not quite. If Van Halen get inducted, then "Van Halen" get inducted which means Ed, Al, Mike, Dave, Sam & Gary. I think the 6 year hiatus has had alot more to do with it that anything else.

I don`t need a RRHOF induction to tell me who the greatest band of all time was, an induction into there is about as important as a mention in Rolling Stone, also I am pretty sure knowing from the pas that if Ed and Al were ever given a ultimatum like Dave or nothing, they would say fuck you.

I don't think it has much to do with it at all. MOST bands who are inducted aren't still intact (The Police) and doing anything as a band. Van Halen are actually a rarity.

The logic doesn't work... whatever the current line-up is or isn't has no relevance on getting inducted. The induction process is all about what the band did originally not what they do today.

The more likely thing is the HOF people just don't see VH as something as great as we the fanbase see em... We're all wrong I suppose...

    FINALLY someone gets it.

The HOF doesn't care about bands like VH, or Sabbath or KISS......it's a total joke, it's anything BUT Rock and Roll......

But again, if they DID get in, it wouldn't be JUST the original 4, it would have to include Gary and Sam.

I can understand the HOF wanting Dave to be in the band. It'll create a bigger stir if Dave is in the band. People haven't seen them together since 1984, unless you include the tease that was 1996. If anything, it made people want it just a little more, because they realised the guys WERE capable of getting together and being civil, even if only for a very short time.

People saw VH with Sammy in 1995. Yeah, it's still been a while, but with Dave it's been longer. Also, original lineups are generally going to get more attention.

If you were running the HOF, would you want VH turning up with Sammy to be inducted for their work since 1978? I think not. You'd want what would create a stir -- VH with Dave and, most likely, Sammy and Gary also.

With all of that said, the HOF is pretty useless. When Waylon was inducted into the country HOF, he didn't even bother turning up. Halls of fame mean different things to different artists, but most probably don't sit around thinking about it as much as the fans do. EVH might actually be an exception...

This is good stuff Thanks for the feedback ... Good point in regard to the Police getting in w/o being together... It's just my humble opinion that Roth is the lynch pin in this case. This isn't an anti-Sammy deal , so drop that angle... it's a question I wanted to ask..
