David Lee Roth will be at the MOONDANCEJAM Festival

Several 80's vintage bands are lined up to play as well on July 15 in Minnesota. Other bands include WHITESNAKE, JOURNEY, and 38 SPECIAL.

In fact, Dave is opening for Journey, if current reports are accurate.

Well, since it's a rock festival, it's tough for anyone to open for anyone.

Well, no, Nick...whoever closes the night, isn't opening.

It sucks that Dave is opening for Journey. Should be the other way around. And is this the Journey with Steve Perry or without, I wonder?

Yeah, but the acts are not "opening" in the traditional sense at a festival since there is no real headliner. I believe that JOURNEY has a different lead singer, and Dave mocked them on his radio gig this week so it should be interesting.

It is Journey sans Steve Perry. Still sound damn good though...

Steve Augeri is a great lead vocalist for Journey, and if you haven't heard their last album together - you owe it to yourself to listen to it. great stuff. Perry quit - let's not forget - Augeri stepped up to fill some mighty big shoes, and did so amazingly well.

I love Roth, but honestly - I think Journey's a bigger band and deserves to close . If this was still 1985 I'd probably think differently, but it's not, and Journey should be the closer for the show.

I saw a report on TV (maybe ET) about a month ago that Steve Perry may be re-joining Journey in the not to distant future.

But I agree, Journey is still a functioning band even with Augeri as singer. Dave has become a part time showman, part time EMT and part time DJ.
If Dave still had the EEAS Band together then maybe I could see Dave as a headliner.

Isn't Soul Sirkus about to embark on a tour? Whats with Journey playing live dates?

With or without Steve Perry, Journey is still bigger than Dave solo and should close the show. They still play some decent size venues without Perry. Although a tour with Perry would be huge IMO.

I just hope Dave doesn't have to come before Whitesnake or 38 Special
