Default New Eddie book out 5/1/05

Found this at Amazon.com, book combining EVH history with how-to play like him, here's the link:

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846

Per overstock.com, the book will be out on 5/1/05.

This is the Amazon.com editor's review:

    Product Description:
Part of the Fretmaster series, this book is geared to teach players both the history and technique of one of rock's greatest guitarists. It explores the musical life and legacy of Eddie Van Halen, whose innovative style is emulated by even the youngest generation of guitarists. The book covers Van Halen's career from his high school days in Pasadena, California, to the present day; provides detailed accounts of his most significant recorded work; and offers commentary from Van Halen himself and the well-known guitarists he has influenced. Lessons on technique provide the skills and encouragement players need to emulate this musical master. An in-depth look at Eddie's guitars and gear rounds out this compelling musical portrait.

And it would accomplish the task of communicating with the fans in a roundabout sort of way. Something he hates to do unless he has something to sell.

So you broke down, trying to leave town, I broke down crying on your return. You left me feeling hopeful, I'll never see your face again. You made for a bad lover's liver. You stole all the covers and busted my head. You made me such an asshole, I wish we'd never met. I'm tired of being bored. I'm through with the headaches. Eh, sounds ok.

Basically the Fretmaster series gives you a buncha lessons on how to play and sound like a certain player. They've done Fretmaster with everyone from Django to Jimi. It's really a book intended for musicians.

In between all the lessons they'll squeeze in some info about the artist, and even some quotes by the artist themselves...along with some quotes from players they've influenced...although all the quotes are taken from past interviews...so in other words, this book will provide absolutely zero new insight about Edward and the band cuz any and all comments by Edward (and any other musician) that appear in this book is stuff we've all already read and heard in previous interviews...nothin' new here, really...

Also, the author of this book is Malcolm Dome. This is the same guy who wrote the VH book "Excess In All Areas" about 10 years ago. And that, my friends, was hands down the most biased VH book in history. I mean that in the sense that Malcolm spent the entire book kissin' Diamond Dave's ass. I love DD, but this guy spent the entire book givin' DD the royal handjob. I guess it took him a decade to decide he now wants to give Edward one, too?

So I'll pass...and I totally agree with the person who said they'll wait for Mikey's book!!! Man, if anyone in VH can write a killer VH bio, it's Mikey. He's been there from the beginning and he's been there through it all. Lord, I'm actually astounded he hasn't written a book? I have no doubt it would be truthfull and I have no doubt his memory is crystal clear. In other words, write the book Mikey!!! Shit, I'll put my money down in a second...

    Malcolm Dome.
Certainly kissed Dave's ass. And tried to make EVH look like a fool at times.
    I'll pass too.

I'm surprised it wouldn't have been released on 3/16... It would only be 4 days later.
