Default When was the first time you heard Vh???

I was 15 years old the first time I realized who VH was. I was competely blown away....I couldn't believe what I was hearing..and the feeling has continued until today. What a great band!! I just got through watching LWAN and wow, what a great live band they are! What the hell has happened to Ed over the years though...he was such a happy guy, just look at him in LWAN...I'm sorry..you can't fake that...the guy was having a great time............damn, alcohol can ruin alot. I mean NO ONE was cooler than Eddie Van Halen. Sorry maybe I'm rambling...but just curious...do you remember the first time ylou heard VH??

I was 2 and I watched LWAN all of the time. Isn't there another thread on this? Anyway, it's not just the alcohol that made Ed the way he is. It was also Dave shit, Sam shit, Media shit, People hating VH3 shit, cancer shit, it's a lot.

When I was 12 years old and we just got MTV and I saw the video for "JUMP". The music blew my mind. I was hooked for life. After that I went out and bought all 6 classic Van Halen tapes.

Same for me. I remember every friday night watching the MTV Friday Night Fights to see what video they would put up to get trounced by Jump and then I would jump over to Friday Night Videos on NBC to see it again.

It was right after WACF was released.
I was at my grandmother's where my cousin played some of it for me.
He was the drummer in a band and knew that I was a Kiss freak, so he thought he'd show me something new.

Funny thing is I did not like it at all. If I remember correctly, it kind of scared me.
I was 10 years old and I just think it was a little too much for me to process at the time.

When I think back it makes me laugh.

The first time I really heard VH was recently. I mean, I had been a huge classic van halen roth era fan for eons, but then I had this big awakening!!!! Now I just lie in bed at home with Black'n'Blue playing with the lights off.

walking around the neighborhood with our "little gang" and we would always walk by debbie shoemakers house. she was the older girl (a few grades above us) and we would always hide in the woods and watch her lay out in the sun. and she had the windows open in her house and she was blaring van halen (van halen 1)

Wow. That's a Van Halen story to perfection. Sounds like a video concept!

I first saw the "Jump" video and loved it but it wasn't until four years later when my friends in high school loved the band and kept talking about them. Finally, when I heard "When It's Love" I made a copy of ou812 and loved it. Then my brother gave me "5150" to listen to on Christmas eve 1988 and it was like my world had changed. After I got through listening to it once, I reloaded the cassette on my cheap GPX walkman and listened to it all over again and again.

Then a few months later my oldest brother said "You need to hear this.....". He put on the vinyl version of VH 1 and then VH II. At that point I was a complete fan of both eras. Hasn't changed since. Just got my VH tattoo three weeks ago in fact.

No matter what happens in life, the music is always there.

I was in the 4th grade and 1984 just came out. There was some guys that hung around by a corner next to our house and he was a vh fan and he has all the tapes at that time. He would play vh the whole time he was there and go on and on how Ed was God. I started to listen to them after that and have loved the music ever since. I remember taking my 5th grade class picture with a van halen t shirt on and my wife say it and says you were a vh freak back then too. Now my boys who are 5 and 7 are just the same they have t shirts and posters and they have vh stickers on there motorcycles. They both want to play the guitar also cause they love the music

I was born in '79 and my mom liked VH, so I grew up listening to them. My dad, on the other hand, has terrible taste in music.
