    Default Guitar Straps

I know we talk alot about guitars, amps, effects, playing styles etc. here on the board, but one thing that doesn't get mentioned much is guitar straps. Yes, the Wolfgang straps got some attention at their outrageous prices, but not much else is talked about. What do you all use? Do you give it much thought when buying.

I bring this up because I just bought a Moody guitar strap. This strap is unbelievable. I've never had a strap that is this comfortable to wear, doesn't slide around, and doesn't have flames, spikes, glitter, etc on it. It's made of Italian leather with a suede backing and is friggin great. I know I sound like a chick talking about a new purse, but this thing is fantastic. No more sore shoulders or stained t-shirts.

    Check them out at www.moodyleather.com

    Anyway, it's slow here today.

Those are some sweet looking straps... I've got to get a bit better before treating myself to one of those puppies - good ol' ballistic nylon for the time being!
    Nothing to see here.

Those are some nice straps. I have a couple of different ones including the dumbest of them all, the EVH Wolfgang strap. It's a nice looking strap, but the idea behind the way you adjust it is just stupid.

Levey's straps are pretty nice, too.

As long as it matches, you're good!! The Wolfgang strap is just to small for me. At 6' 4", it looks like I'm playing the mandolin. I've got several of the Ernie Ball VH style straps with the "extenstion" piece. They work nicely, but are no where near as comfortable as the Moody strap is.

I have an old Ernie Ball that's on it's last days (24 years - sniff).

When I was in LA last year I bought a tacky one that says "Police Line Do Not Cross", Joe Walsh has one at the "Crossroads Blues Fest". If I'm to use it for extended playing I'll have to buy a sling-pad for it because it digs into my shoulder after a while. It's too thin. A good strap should be broad so it distributes the weight of the guitar across your shoulder. This way you don't cramp up or cut off circulation and it's easier on your neck.

I have yet to find a strap I find comfortable in the sub-$50 range. I'm looking for new ones right now. Those Moody straps look nice, but I can't really justify $70 or $80 for a strap.

Why not just have a leather maker create one?
I was working in my mall this weekend, and a guy had set up a booth with handmade belts, wallets, cell phone cases and shit. Got to thinking, grabbed his card, and I THINK I want to have him make me a replica EVH Wolfgang strap, in the form of the dog leash clips...
Eddie must think I'm a BOZO to want to drop THAT much on one of his new Charvel Guitars!
