Default Please help with 5150 COMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My fellow VH brothers can you help me out. I finally got the caps I needed. I was pulling out the chassis today and I forgot to mark the direction of the caps. Can anyone please take a pic of their chassis. I might have a connector on wrong or a cap on backwards. Does anyone have a pic of the chassis from the board side up?

If anyone has a schematic they could email please let me know. I've troubleshot this all night. I have no LED lights nor power to the last two preamp tubes. I know I have the capacitors in correctly.

The schematic for the 5150 can be found at http://www.blueguitar.org/new/schem/peavey/5150evh.pdf .

That's for the head, but I would imagine that the schem for the combo is the same, with the obvious changes in the power section.

    Thanks for the reply.

Actually the 5150 combo schematic is pretty different. Peavey was nice enough to email it to me.

As it turned out in my rash to change 5 different caps one of them was in backwards. This lead to a resistor burning up and creating an open circuit.

Hopefully that it just acted like a fuse and caused no more damage. I'm on my way to radio shack now.

Problem fixed. It was the combination of 2 bad caps, and cold solder joints.

Dude: if you still have a copy of the 5150 Combo schematic, could you possibly email that to me or paste a link. It would be a huge help. I put JJ's in mine and it really improved the tone. I also turned it into a head and a 2X12 cab for ease of transport. When I get the thing back together after the current mod I am doing I will post some pics.

    Thanks

Default Question: upgrades for Peavey 5150 combo?

For Dave King or other combo owners:
Are you replacing the stock capacitors for any tonal reason or just as a matter of prevent. maint.? Are there any known mods we can share here for Peavey 5150 combo owners?

So far the only one I know of worth doing (even though I haven't done it yet) is to replace the fixed bias resistor with a pot for adjusting the power tube bias.

    Any others?

Default Anyone have the combo scematic?

    Hi Guys,

My 5150 combo just went into a coma - I left in on the other night and heard a zzzzzzzzzzt from the other room - when I went in the power was still on, but absolutely no sound, no secondary power - any ideas? I'm not electronically savvy, but I can take the amp out and have a poke around. Thought the schematic might be of some help - Dave, if you have a copy, could you PM me?

Don't worry about it - was just a fuse - back to makin' noise now.
