Default VH ticket prices weren't too bad

On saturday tickets go on sale in CT for U2 which is in December. Anyway, the prices are 162.50, 126.50 and 51.50. For what? I have seen U2 in the past and they do put on a good show but $162.50 plus taxes and service charges is a bit rediculous. That price is for the entire floor and first level of seating.

They do that on purpose so they can avoid doing multiple shows at a venue.

The prices are set at whatever the market will bear. U2 are selling
out at breakneck speed. They could probably charge $50-$100 more
and still do the same numbers - but don't say that out loud. I don't buy
the repeat performance argument, neccesarily, as they've since added
another date (Nov. I think) to the two dates in LA already.

Gee those were the days. I remember 15 or 20 bucks a shot. Ridiculously high nowadays.

I think I paid $8.50 per the first time I saw KISS (Alive 2). I bitched about
the prices then cause I had to resort to stealing people's deposit bottles from
under their trailers and just barely got it together in time to get a second
row (from the back!) ticket. I think it may have been like $12.50 the first
time I saw VH (DD Tour). That was a lot of lawns mowed back in the day.
Those days are long gone. Waddaya gonna do other than stop going? That's
the only way prices will come down, if ever.

That's a lot of money to shell out to watch The Edge strum on the same chords with his Echo effect on.

They are playing a total of 10 dates in Nj and at the Garden. it's all greed at this point for them. they don't really need to play the Garden 8 times at those prices. That plus their souls being sold to Apple, they are rolling in it now. They should donate a huge chunk of those earnings to world debt relief and AIDs research instead of begging us (the US) to step up more.

I don't know about that. U2 just sold out 6 nights at the United Center in Chicago with those prices. That's 23,000 six times.

Anyway, =VH= tickets were too expensive. What it all comes down to is how much are people willing to pay to see the band. U2 is successfully selling out show after show for $150. =VH= didn't do nearly as well. Maybe if they sold tickets for $60, they would have sold out certain places three times, and then made more money in the long-run.

If a ticket to a concert to listen to Eddie fart cost 1000 bucks I'd still pay for it. But hey, I guess thats the type of fan that I am...

    the demand = prices.
It always worked that way. VH, in some markets, overpriced themselves.

U2 is a slightly older band so their fans can afford higher prices, plus they are the "it" band right now so lots of people are going because its "thee" thing to do. They also promoted the hell out of this new disc, from the Apple commercials and TV appearances and so on. And the RRHOF hype didn't hurt either.
Hey, good for them. If they call sell out 10 shows in the nyc market and 6 shows in chicago, more power to 'em.
