    Default Back of neck shaping

    Hey guys, just curious

have you ever played a guitar so long that the back of the neck started to take the shape of your hand like Ed's 5150 did to him? I think the back of my warmoth neck is starting to do that to me because tonight I was playin around on it and it had never felt so comfortable!

Even playing 8 hours a day 7 days a week over a 5 year period it's doubtful you'd wear the wood of a neck to a point it's shaped to your hands. Most necks are hard maple which isn't going to wear or reshape itself without some power tools. Odds are better that your hand muscles and tendons are stretching and shaping themselves to the contour of the wood rather than vice-versa...

Very true. I had an old strat at one time. that I played continuously for about 14 years, and the only wear on the neck was a slight rounded indenting on the top side between some of the frets, from looping my thumb over the top and sliding it back and forth as I played.
I never even noticed it untill someone doing a refret for me pointed it out.
