Default Can we get a 2 month tour with Dave already?

Hello all, this is with out a doubt, the best rock message board around. VH must have the most fragmented audience of any major group. That being said, is it too much to ask for VH to appease a large portion of its fan base and play the VH1-Me Wise Magic material in concert? I saw the second reunion tour show in Worcester and it was my first time seeing VH. I felt inspired to post after listening to Dave this week on ZLX. I bought 3 tix outside the Centrum for $10 each, lower level. Now, they did sell probably at least 18K-20K worth of tickets over 2 nights, but the magic wasn't there for me and I realized it was because they weren't playing the material that interested me. I think a lot of the Sam stuff sounds dated. I like some of the tunes, but I'm here as a fan of the classic lineup. Not trying to bash, but as a classic VH fan, what else am I going to discuss? It was incredible to finally be able to see Eddie live, sloppy or not.

first of all, welcome to our little club here! the thought of a dave tour with vh is something we've wanted for so long. however, have you seen dave lately? i'm not sure the shows would live up to our expectations anymore. i'd still pay out the ass to find out, though!

I wouldn't even be that concerned with how Dave sounded. They could sweeten the mix and Mikey could help. The question is, how would Ed sound? If Ed's playing was sharp and they ripped into 15 or so classics from the original 6 albums, songs not played in 20 years, there's no price that could be put on that. I don't care how bad Dave sounded, it'd be worth it to hear Ed play that old stuff again.

Of course that'll never happen so maybe(fingers crossed) Sam will just agree to incorporate more of a variety of the classic stuff on the next tour, like Gary did on the III tour.

I got to hear Eddie play about 10 classic VH songs this past tour, so I'm not complaining.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

I think both Dave and Ed would sound better, age notwithstanding, than most of the crap bands nowadays!

Sigh, is this really even worth talking about. It has been beaten to death. I had the pleasure of seeing Mr.Roth on New Years in Orlando. I had a blast and his band was unreal. His guitar player really should get his own gig instead of playing someone else's chops. Dave sounded good at times, but, there were times he spoke the lyrics. I know that just seeing him on stage with the boys would be enough for many, but, vocally he just isn't there anymore. PLUS, Eddie would probably get drunk on stage one night and kick his ass like he has said he wanted to numerous times.

Dave dosen't sound bad now. I saw him live, and even hear the boots recently, and Dave sounds great. Granted he's not in his 20's, but he still can sing the classics. I hope everyday for Dave and the boys to reunite and go on tour. Lets hope it happens.

I've never seen Van Halen with DLR live before. I've seen the bootlegs but never witnessed it myself. I'd like to see a mini tour with Dave but I doubt that will happen. With VH getting screwed each year by the RRHOF, we may never get too see VH's swan song with DLR.

To see a VH concert with both DLR and Sam would be great but the egos won't allow it.

I think you will see the Red Sox and Yankees become friends before you will see Dave in VH again.

They have tried at least 2 (and possibly 3) times to reunite with Dave and they all failed. As much as a large % of fans would like to see it, it just aint gonna happen.

    I did have a thought.

Since its doubtful they could survive a full tour together, how about one big concert, maybe on PPV. It could be like a festival-type show with a few other bands and then VH closes the show with a huge, final show. Advertise it as that "One last final show with David Lee Roth"
No new cd, no full length tour, just closure to an era. Afterwards, they could release the DVD with a behind the scenes footage.

    Unlikely to happen I know.

I wouldn't call the 1996 thing as a legitimate reunion, since Ray Daniels was obviously pulling the strings, thus there was just gonna be two songs to spur sales for BOV1.

Now, in 2000, things were different. There was a legitimate attempt to reunite, however things fell apart mostly due to money. (ie: royalties issue concerning Dave).

So, that being said, I'd say they only really tried to reunite ONCE.
