    The RATM Thread...

Allright, here's goes a nice little thread devoted to one of the 90's most important bands (IMO).I'll even go as far as to say they were the Van Halen or Led Zeppelin of their genre.Constantly imitated, but never duplicated.
I wish they reunite someday in the future.Well atleast a one show reunion or something.I've had some good memories with this band...

Zach come back! we hardly knew ye!

Excellent band! They could've really gone places has Zach changed his style a little more, rather than doing his angry rap on nearly everything. (Listen to "The Ghost of Tom Joad"!)
I really think he shot himself in the foot leaving the others. They're probably the best "backing" band since VH, IMO.

Rage, Tool, and Soundgarden are probably the 3 best popular (e.g. got radio play) bands that came out of the 90's. Each one created a its own sound and spawned countless imitators. And while the imitators can be dated within a particular genre, the work of the three bands above are timeless . . . very much like VH.

Sadly, two of these bands are no more; however, there is the hope that Audioslave could eventually be a band greater than the sum of its respective parts. They're off to a good start.

As for Tool . . . my god, with each new album they're making music on a level never seen before. And while I can't compare them directly to VH--apples and oranges my friends--they definately stand along side the boys from Pasadena in my pantheon of music fandom.

Back to Rage . . . great band, great tunes, great creativity, great energy. When I saw them play at the old Idaho State Penetentary in 1996 . . . one of the best shows I've ever been to. And that first album is up their with VH I and Appetite for Destruction in my list of all-time great guitar albums!

I'd knock off Soundgarden and replace it with AIC for most imitated bands from the 90's. I might even say Pearl Jam, but music-wise they weren't imitated except for the Eddie Vedder clones vocally. PJ basically imitated Neil Young after their first record.

Rage was cool sometimes its just that the lyrics/vocals were very monotonous and the music always seemed to follow the same groove.

I saw them in concert in 96 and it was a good show.I would never say they were a Van Halen or Zeppelin of their generation. They never sold that many records or got that much airplay. They quietly appeared and quietly went away.Dont forget they arent that great of musicians.

Rage was awesome. Their first album is one of the best debuts ever IMO. I don't know why they get ripped on so much. Listen to "Know Your Enemy" and tell me with a straight face that it doesn't kick ass. I like Audioslave too but it would be cool if Zack ever came back.

    Default Rage is the BOMB-track

I like rage to. Tom Morello has become one of my favorite guitar players. I don't know why everyone seems to come down on him. I think he's very innovative with his sounds, comes up with really cool riffs and plays tasteful solos. Granted he's not the most technically amazing player, but he's far from sucking. It seems to me that alot of the technique heads, who are only focused on speed, are the ones that can't seem to come up with any cool riffs.

The best thing that could have happened to the remaining members of RATM is pairing up with Chris Cornell.

    Wonder what happened to Zack?

Default RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Reunited!!!!

Rage Against the Machine is reuniting with singer Zach De La Rocha for a one time show at Coachella 2007. This show will rip the roof off of Coachella. They have never seen anything like this out there. It is gonna be off the hook. People go nuts at Rage concerts. Another band doing it right. Reuniting at the biggest concert of the year!!! Talk about a trial by fire...

Chris Cornell and Tom Morello of Audioslave are both doing solo albums at the time giving RATM time do this show. Audioslave has no plans to break-up, although Cornell is planning a summer solo tour. Could a Rage summer tour also be in the works????

Has anyone here seen these guys live? INTENSE.. One of the best live bands to have ever existed. You may not like their studio albums, but live, there is no touching them. I saw them at Woodstock 99. They had 200,000 people in the palm of their hands. Killer, killer stuff.

My friend at work bought tickets, but he may sell them because they're going for 5x what he paid on Ebay.

It's going to be awesome! I heard about this awhile ago, and at first they were saying one time only, but now Morello is taking a "never say never" approach to a TOUR. Hopefully it happens.

It's looking more and more likely. Chris Cornell just quit Audioslave. Full article posted in the Audioslave thread. I hope they tour!

Rage Against The Machine guitarist announces more solo dates

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello has added to his solo touring schedule as his political folk alter ego, the Nightwatchman. In addition to the dates he's already announced, Morello has booked a number of new shows in July, starting on the 10th in Detroit. Morello will also perform with Rage Against The Machine this summer, but told us that touring on his own does have its advantages: "Say it comes to playing a benefit show, like, if I want to play -- if we're approached by some worthy cause to play a benefit show in some other town. If it's a rock band, it's not easy to do, you know. You have to have a band meeting and decide to do it. You have to coordinate schedules and get a tour manager and a lighting rig and roadies and all that. And, you know, if someone asked me to play that show, I just pick up my guitar and I get on a plane, and I'm there to play it."

Morello's debut disc as the Nightwatchman, One Man Revolution, arrived in stores on April 24th.

The guitarist has a full schedule of solo shows lined up for this spring and summer, including headlining gigs and opening stints for Ben Harper.

Rage Against The Machine has confirmed four dates on the Rock The Bells tour, in late July in New York City and mid-August in California. The reactivated group has reportedly scheduled a concert in East Troy, Wisconsin on August 24th, but there's been no official word on any more Rage shows.

    Newly confirmed Nightwatchman tour dates:
July 10 - Detroit, MI - The Shelter
July 11 - Chicago, IL - Schubas Tavern
    July 13 - Minneapolis, MN - 7th St. Entry
July 15 - Denver, CO - Larimer Lounge
July 17 - Portland, OR - Doug Fir Lounge
July 18 - Seattle, WA - Crocodile Café
July 20 - San Francisco, CA - Swedish Hall
July 21 - Los Angeles, CA - The Troubadour
