    Default DLR & NASCAR

Don't know who caught it, but FOX played "Yankee Rose" over ther top of the end of the race video montage yesterday (Vegas Race). Choice was a bit odd, to say the least.

I caught it...left the room for a sec, walked back in, and my son is singing Yankee Rose as Jimmie's doing a burnout

I was like...huh? Thought I was hearing things.

Nice to see that the guys in the FOX control room have good taste

they did it cause of the "Show me your bright lights and your city lights" referencing vegas, but was still cool to hear, fox and nbc use alot of VH/Sammy/Dave material actually, NBC uses the new version of I Can't Drive 65 for their bud pole award part of the broadcast and you hear random tid bits for dramatic effect...dreams is used alot during chase time if i remember correctly.

I actually watched NASCAR for a short bit. However, I tried
to get back into it just a short while ago, but it seems to
have soldout it's roots. Now it seems like they are worried
about the drivers being pretty boys now. Just seems lame
to me. I know it's a business, NASCAR just seems like sell
outs in some ways to me.

I missed the end of the race. Cool choice of music.

I know what you mean, its a shame not to see them run at the rock this year. But the fact remains that the shows did not sell out. The race in Texas always sells out and that whole SMC/ISC/NASCAR fiasco wound up with NASCAR deciding to move on to where the money is. There is still some roots planted with them running Martinsville and Darlington even though the southern 500 is now in Cali.....One of the reasons for the massive expansion over the last 4 years is the FOX/NBC broadcast package. That changed everything. Now the sport is gaining huge interest all over the country and just like all other sports, states want shows in their area to draw tourism and money. The downside about that is there is only a 36 race schedule, there is simply not any room for these newer races while keeping the roots in the ground. Until NASCAR looks at alternating race dates like Michael Waltrip brought up a couple years ago, many of the smaller dates and races on the older tracks will slowly windle away. Its tough to accept, but its the only way the sport will grow.
