    Default Backup software

What software do you guys use to back up your computers?

I'm talking your personal home computers.

And, if you don't do backups shame on you!

I use Carbon Copy Cloner on my Macs. It's an outstanding piece of software, and it's free. I back up my desktop twice a week, and my laptop sporadically. Everything goes onto an external hard drive, which gets disconnected from the computer when I'm done. If I was really serious about it, I'd rotate two of them and keep one at the office. There's nothing irreplaceable on my PCs, so they don't get backed up.

I'm amazed at how most people never back things up. With how common digital photography, movie editing, and music collections are now people are playing a losing game by not making small efforts to protect their data. Drives can and do die, and they all die eventually. More amazing, however, is that none of the common PC makers offer a backup solution that's easy and built in. That's not terribly expensive and should be a good way to differentiate themselves from the rest of the market.

I use Nero Backitup. I back up every other day to an external hardrive, and once a month to DVD. I like the program a lot.

I'll have to try the Nero backup software one of these days. I've been using Ghost.

I don't have anything personal or really anything to lose on my computer that I couldn't get back on-line. I guess I am old fashioned. (If it means something detrimental, it isn't worth putting on the computer)....I hate cell phones too.
My external hardrive is my Technics kick ass stereo...if someone "hacked" that, I have insurance. Then there is my guitar stuff that is separately insured too.....
    Just go for it!
