Default Ok I was listening to Diver Down...

-the new CD- on my headphones. It still sounds "bright and brashy" to me.
The track Dancing in The Streets actually isn't that bad. ( I didn't mind it before) but I like it better now.
What I like about it is Mike's background vocals, and it covers pretty well into a VH style dance song for which there isn't too many.
Ed's solo, however is "ok" and has a few weak spots in it. It sounds like he is not putting much heart into it.
(Maybe he doesn't like this cover?)
    What are your thoughts ?

I would say that Diver Down isn't exactly a shining example of rich, full sound. It's kind of hollow.

Maybe Eddie didn't push the envelope on the solo because he really didn't want to do the song, or the album for that matter, in the first place.

Absolutely...you see at the time, Ted Templeman really pushed cover songs with the thinking that "If it worked once, it's proven".

Remember he did it with the Doobie Bros (Take Me in Your Arms).

Ed and Al truly disliked this concept, particularly Ed, whose guitar part (slated for another song) was bastardised and shoe-horned into "Dancing In The Street".

To hell with the covers, the "real" VH tunes still sound good, however... one must truly crank 'em to get them to sound good.

Besides, this record is what, 15 minutes long?

I'm joking, yet you get the point.

The 4 originals all by themselves make this album a truly worthy addition to the Halen discography.

It's sounds really pathetic when you put it that way.

Yes, the original songs on Diver Down are excellent. Secrets is such a departure, and it's so damn good.

Agreed, that has to be one of Dave's best tunes, both vocally and lyric wise, same with the Full Bug, and how can we not forget Little Guitars.

Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

This album is pretty good I always thought, especially Intruder at the proper level. I still remember the pic of the band at a stadium concert (can't remember where) that was inside of the cassette cover. I thought that was pretty good and showed the guys at their prime despite the many cover (songs) on the album.

I taped that pic up on my computer a month ago after I cut it out of the DD cassete my parents gave me, I think it's amazing. I wouldn't want to be in the back row though.
